We had a hard freeze, the night before, I planted my garlic yesterday and then it snowed today. Two weeks of fall, 6 months of winter. I've pulled out my mittens and hats, wasn't it just summer?

Brrrrrrrrrrrr I am not ready. I don't even have a winter coat yet.. Yikes.. We actually turned on the furnace today as it was chilly & rainy here in Klamath Falls . We are only 50 miles south of Crater Lake..an rumor has it we are expected to have another snowwy winter. 5ft drifts over our drive way last year the previous owners said. I better get my bum a hussle and dig out my mittens * I think I have those somewhere..We moved from arizona. We sure didn't need themthere except to hold the steeringwheel of the car if we left it out in the driveway! This Climate stuff is mind boggling...

Wowee...and I thought I had it rough here in Michigan because I had to start the boiler this week. We joke here in Michigan that we have four seasons: June, July, August, and Winter. But I think you've got us beat! |

Hi Jo. My other half up on the north slope has been telling me it's snowed up there already. Says he may as well be ready for another 8 months of winter. I guess that means he's not going to retire just yet. Are the Labs ready to play in the snow again? |

Summer is finally coming to an end here in Billings Montana. I hope that fall will stick around until after Halloween. I know that in Alaska you really only have two seasons. Winter and Summer. They joke that in Montana you have Winter, almost Winter, Summer, almost Winter and then back to Winter. We all take the seasons in stride.
Enjoy your garlic next year. My favorite way to have garlic is to roast it and then spread it on to hot fresh bread. Yummy......

I've always wanted to live in Alaska, especially when it's so hot and humid here.
How long have you lived there, Jo? I'd love to go sometime. Do you have farm animals? Seems like that would be hard, trekking through the snow all day with water and hay. That's what would stop me, I guess, because I'd have to have my critters.
I'd love to hear more about your area and what it's like to live there.

Hey guys, it's blowing and snowing hard right now! I took the labs out and they're freshly snow scrubbed...... They smell so good after they've burrowed and rolled in the snow. I'm so excited about the garlic, I save a few bulbs and baked them to go with my sourdough from Ronna! yummmmmmm
I'm knitting like crazy on a sweater and this is perfect weather for it.
No farm animals here, I'm worried the brown bears would eat them. I want goats SO bad. We'll have more chickens next year behind hot wire. The bears don't like electric fence.
Our seasons are winter, summer, two weeks of fall and then winter. I wouldn't live anywhere else. We love the winter.........

Brrrrrrrrr it is cold here today. but not like Alaska.. We are expecting snow showers possibly tonight. I had to go buy myself a winter coat this morning while in town.. I gave away all my wonter stuff when I moved to Arizona 5 years ago ( they wouldn't fit now anyway since I have added more meat to my curves...)now have to look for those mittens.. The sky is sure pretty and blue here on our "Bluesky Homestead"

Wow Jo, you sure skipped over autumn awfully fast. Do you think your garlic will make it? I love winter, but not in October. I'm sure it is just beautiful by you though.
