I found a great recipe for carpet freshiner a while back. I don't know if this has been posted yet.
I take baking soda and put a few drops of essential oil in it and let it sit for a few days in a zipper storage bag. Then I sprinkle some on the carpet and let it sit for about 20 minutes and vacuum it up and the carpet and the room smell wonderfully fresh and clean.
I use essential oils like:
lavender
lemon
tea trea oil
eucalyptus
rosemary
citronella
Rose geranium
etc.
Sometimes I mix them too.
You want to let the powder sit in the bag for a few days so the oils is evenly distributed so it doesn't hurt your carpet.

I'll bet this smells wonderful Lucy! I need to expand my essential oils so I can start making things like this and cleaners and soaps. Thanks for the tip! Have a wonderful day!

Awesome recipe! I don't have any essential oils and no where to get them around here. Could you recommend a website that you use to order essential oils from? Or do you live near somewhere where you can buy them? I, personally, have never seen essential oils in any retail store I've been in or maybe I'm not looking in the right place?
Thanks!

First of all I LOVE your name....I have a little granddaughter with that name, Faith.... and Irene is beautiful too! Thank you for your passion! I had no idea there were different grades. I wish you lived nearer....I could use ALL your skills! Since I moved down here I can't find anything natural that I am aware of...I came from a metro area where we had all that available and now I have NADA....I have RA and Graves disease so they told me I should get massages especially and keep the stress away and I have done really well....I'm out of the corporate hustle bustle, I meditate, journal and walk and I have done a tremendous amount of healing on my own but boy could I use your skills! People in TN are very lucky to have you! I had 2 eye surgeries in TN and the surgeons from the University of TN were awesome! Thank you so much Faith! I'll check Young Living website out!

Try adding a little borax to that mix. It helps keep the bugs away. This works well if you have pets!

Yes...thank you Erin....I have an 85 pound Serenity...that I call "Nitty" and although I used to have hardwood floors...this house I'm in now is almost all carpeting....hardwood is easier and cleaner if you have animals, in my opinion and children too! I raised 4 with 2 dogs and a cat and I always liked the fact that everything in my house was washable and scrubable! LOL!

I've got some rugs that are long overdue for "freshening." I've been wondering what to use. I'll try this for sure. Thanks, Lucy!
