Hey, this is Beverly writing----farmgirl at heart getting ready to go back and retire with my honey of 30 years. I sure will miss the states; but the pace of India is to our liking.
We will be living in New Delhi---the capitol
in which we will be exposed to people from all around the world...so it is very very interesting.
We have lived here before, therefore I know what is in store for us.
I love to go see the different free concerts from the different embassies, LOVE to go shopping for material, will love to try to garden.
Its not all rosey though......living in a huge home sharing with brother in law, mother in law can be challenging.
Then there's having servants do everything for you.....no that's not me at all...I prefer to do things myself, really. But I am not one to make waves---when in Rome---
I love to work....its kind of ingrained in me----I won't be working overseas.
But I will be staying busy---volunteering at the American Embassy's women's library, and some other good cause for children. And I am buying a new sewing machine over there; intend to stay busy with crafts...all kinds of crafts.
Just thought I would share my new adventure.....but I really really love being a farm girl at heart.

Yes, it will be quite an adventure...I look forward to it...but then too I will miss the freedoms that the U.S.A. offers so freely that we all take for granted.

Life is what you make it, though.

Ruth, btw, you should get my package today.

HOw very cool. One of my greatest friends is from India. I always tease her that she has the BEST clothes. I love the craftsmanship of the fabrics and jewelry. As Ruth said, keep in touch with the farm! Bon Voyage!

You will be physically faraway, but remember we all are just a click away on the internet. Keep us informed on what is happening in your corner of the world. It will be fun to read.

wouldn't that be really neat if Jo and I met and volunteered together over there...Jo please send more info----I am a nurse and hope that I can join you at that time.....if not it still interests me for future plans.
Beverley I would gladly get you any material you would be interested in------would it be silk ????
I also know of a place that sells shabby chic pillow covers. They used to sell shabby chic pillow covers with seed pearl outlines of girls on horses...but they stopped...it doesn't sound nice----but it was.
Have a good day, everyone.

Sure Deeredawn I love shopping for textiles---in fact I'm meeting a gal from England over in New Delhi and we are shopping together.....should be fun.
I just don't know the costs right now...and how I can show you what I have got....YET.
But I am taking plenty of brown bubbled envelopes to mail back to the states.Or it may be brought back by my daughter.
Just curious, what kind would you be interested in---do you think? And how much??? Let me know....

Also, I'm not sure what I need from you for a swap....YET.

Let me think...but do tell me about what you have in mind for material.....I get excited just thinking about all the material I see over there. Weird---but it really is something I thoroughly enjoy.

Stay tuned for a story about the jeweled material I had to choose from.

Didn't take me long ---we can swap material to whatever specialty food you make and can easily ship to my son in Massachusetts. He will be alone for Thanksgiving and Christmas......and wouldn't it be nice to send him some cookies or fudge, or a can of maple syrup ......or 2 jars of home made bread and butter pickles......anything you make he would love.
I would trust all who swap with me to use their best farmgirl judgment and creativity to send him something similar in value to the material I would send you...similar---not exact. Also, I would not include the postage ----I would just ask for similar cost of material....I would foot the postage myself.
One hint---he loves hot spices....but would love anything received.
Anyone interested?????

Aww.. Corrine you are a sweetie! So nice of you to find a farmgirl abroad!

Beverly: I'd be more than happy to send your son a care package! I love to cook and I have apple butter, applesauce canned. Beans froze, I can make him some beer bread and cranberry chutney. He'd have to provide his own turkey!! Oh, and I make/sell fudge/muffins here at my farm market. He'd have a full belly alright!

I am looking for 1 yard increments of anything. I am not picky. I want to make pillows and maybe a fancy apron. Depending on cost I'd take 2-4, one yard increments, or scraps...and I love color....

Let me know your thoughts! I'm pretty excited about the care package! I swear, I live to feed people! haha!

Beverly,

I visited India when I was 7 years old. I remember it vividly because I was the only blonde in the bunch and everyone wanted to touch me. My parents were franticly trying to protect me before I was mobbed. One gentleman offered my father an amazing sum of money if I would cut my hair and give it to him. Of course my father said no and spared me. I would love to visit there again sometime in my life (I'm not quite so blonde now) and pray that you will be happy, not homesick. I have a few missionary friends that live there and have ministered for about 25 years. Not sure where they are now. The fabrics are amazing and my mother to this day still owns some India silks. Check out my childrens books before you leave. You might like to take them with you since you sound like you love children and women. www.mokitime.com
