Not sure what happened but for the last 5 days, my small Seabright rooster has been sleeping in our open shed, instead of in the coop with the flock. He grew up with the flock, they were all a day old when I bought them. He's so tiny, I do worry about him out there all alone, but he has seen several of our chickens killed recently by some animal in the coop. So maybe he feels safer near our outdoor dog, who sleeps in her dog house nearby. Our dog doesn't bother the chickens. She seems to love everyone and everything.

Maybe the other roosters kicked him out because of his awful crow. It sounds like a rooster with an accent. It's loud and screachy. He's an odd little fella.

That is odd! Maybe the other roosters are starting to define their territories? How many hens and how many roosters do you have?

Not counting Runt, the Seabright, I have 5 Roosters. But they don't fight. They all hang out with their group of girls during the day, and Samson my large white rooster watches over Penquin- my black Bantie roo and Runt. Runt has slept in the shed since Bruce and Buffie have been killed by a skunk or something. Bruce and Buffie were buff colored banties. Lately if I'm outside Runt likes to follow me around. Poor little guy, I wish I could figure him out. Is there a roo psychologist in the house? :)

Chickens are very smart. He may be feeling a little lonely. Give it some time and he should come around. I'm not a roo pysch, but I have a lot of chicken expereince. Maybe some extra treats for him. An ear of corn or something. We always advise one roo per 10 hens where I work... I dunno. Try a little extra lovin and see what happens. Banties are a different culture for me, I have all standard breeds but I still have chicken drama!
