We were camping this weekend in WV at Audra State Park (GORGEOUS!! and lots of fun for the whole family!) anyhow. . .we got back last night to find. . .A PIG!!!!!!! Okay, we don't own pigs, never have.
The guy who was feeding our chickens while we were gone said that it just showed up on Saturday morning in a dog crate we had outside. It was in the crate and the crate was tied shut with a leash. Oh yeah, the little pig was wearing a red harness. Living where we do, we've had lots of kittens dropped off near the property, but a pig?

I babysit for 2 boys on Monday mornings and their dad is a vet. He checked it out this morning and said it is a pet potbelly pig. HMMMMMMM...

Our mystery was half solved this morning when a lady who lives in town and works at the fishing club too told my husband that someone had lost a pet pig they were "pigsitting" over the weekend. Not sure how it ended up in our dog crate, locked in, and tied closed, but . .supposedly the owner will come get it after work (hopefully!)

We were cracking up because the night before we left to go camping my husband had just called to order half a hog from a local guy. . .he said, "I kind of expected it to be in little white packages!"

We just never know what to expect one day to the next!!

Life's a mystery, isn't it? If only animals could talk!! You'll probably never find out how that pig got to your place and in the crate. Ya'll could write a story about this one.

Let us know if you do find out how it got there. I'm curious now

That is a good tale! And right after your ordered a half hog! I would have thought they would have butchered it for you too! Someone must have thought he was yours and brought him back and put him in the crate thinking they were doing you a favor. It's amazing that you were able to find it's owner!

This gave me a good chuckle, thanks for sharing.
I am glad it wasn't sick or hurt, and found its Mama/owner!

I was laughing pretty well until I also read the quote at the bottom of kissmekate. Sheila should show that to her hubby too. Way too funny.

What a grest story! I guess it is a case of the crate being all full instead of half full! :) Let us know if your piggy's owner comes to take it home! It might have to go wah wah wah all the way!

The pig is back to its rightful owner (or rather pig-sitter!) One of the joys of small town living. . .:) a few people that we only know marginally have mentioned the pig! The mystery has been solved, however--I was picking my kiddos up from school yesterday and another mom asked me how our pig was doing. First of all, I said we DON'T have a pig!! and by the way, how did you know about it? She said that her nephew and his wife live near us (we don't know them, though) and saw this pig running around. They caught it and figured that since we have chickens and a few turkeys, a bunny, cats, and a dog--(again, small town living--they don't know us, but know the animals we have!)--they figured it MUST be ours, so they brought it down and put it in the cage that was "conveniently" out in the yard (they figured it was the pig's!! It's just a kind of "chicken tractor" idea we use for our silkies!) I'd have thought they would have called us or tried to get ahold of us to let us know, but I guess they just thought they were doing a good deed. So. . .as Hank the Cowdog would say, "Case Closed!"

Oh, by the way, this morning we have a runaway golden retriever out in our dog's kennel--we're looking for its owner! He has a phone number on his tag, though, so we won't have to just "drop him off at someone's house" (not that we would, but. . .it was kind of ironic!
