I'm teaching my friend to make soap tonight! I'm so excited! I just love to teach people how to do crafts. She is excited too. Hopefully I can get pictures to put on my blog of our little adventure.

My neighbor wanted to learn so that she could make soap for her hubby, as he loved the soap I made, so I lined her out. The absolute joy on her face as she showed me her first bar of "soap" that SHE made was priceless. ;) Have fun!!

Oooh I wish I lived next door! I'd love to try my hand at making soap. I have so many things I want to try now since joining the sisterhood. It should keep me outta mischief for a longgggg time...smile.

I remember my first bar of soap - I was so excited and couldn't believe that I actually did that. I still get excited every time I unmold a new batch of soap. I can't wait to cut off a piece so I can try it. We had so much fun and Claudia was a good student. I ended up making the soap and she watched me but she took lots of notes. I told her the next batch she will do it and I will watch. Unfortunately I didn't get pictures because the batteries are dead in my camera (thanks to my teenager). But I will get a picture of the soap we did.

Successful make soap making. How fun. I got to get busy and make some laundry bars, and hand and body bars. Hope your student will enjoy making her own soap.

How fun, Kay! I am teaching a class this week of about 25 women and I was a little nervous to have them sloshing around a bunch of lye water. Maybe I will do as you did, though, and just demonstrate and let them take notes and measure oils or something. (I think that is what Aunt Jenny did when she taught a large class, too....)

| A few years ago while I was making soap and drying herbs (same day) a neighbor dropped by. She said, "I want to come live with you". That was the best compliment I have ever received. She does a lot of canning herself but works full time and has teenagers. She doesn't know it but I get a lot of inspiration from her. Arn't neighbors wonderful?!! |

I LOVE to make soap!! My friend and I make it every month whenever we have a day off together. Next week we are making a batch with citrus essential oil. Do you guys use coloring? So far, we don't use any.

I sometimes use a little coloring in my soap but not much. I just let the essential oils or fragrance oils dictate the color. Sometimes citrus essential oils have a tendency to fade in soap so maybe soap at a lower temp. Sometimes that helps. I just made a new recipe on Sunday - lavender oatmeal facial bar. I used chamomile tea for the liquid and then added lavender essential oil and finely ground oatmeal. It has a very high content of olive oil so will be nice and moisturizing for skin that tends to be more dry. It's on the drying rack right now and I'm dying to try it but it's not ready yet!

When you make soap how much does a batch generally make? Your lavendar oatmeal soap sounds soooo nice Kay. I'll bet your house smells wonderful.
