After yesterday's high winds, it is a beautiful calm morning here. However, schools south of us (toward and including Louisville, KY)are closed due to electricity being out and trees everywhere. It was absolutely amazing that Ike had such an impact, even here in the Midwest -- the winds lifted our flag right out of the holder, sent our statue of Mary tumbling and wrapped the swings around the swing set -- I'ver never seen anything like it. Lake County, IN, (Gary, I think) had 11" of rain yesterday. Hope everyone is OK. Peace.

The kids are loving it. No school down here. Lots of damage all around us, but we were very blessed yesterday.
You are so right Georgiann. That was some wicked wind yesterday, but I know it was nothing like what the gals down south saw.
And what's crazier we didn't get a drop of rain.

We actually have more wind today than we did with the hurricane coming within 70 miles of us. Very windy and COOOOOOLLLLL!! I have all the windows open and I am working on my homework and getting ready to go to the store.

We got over 9"s of rain here by Sunday morning. I'm not sure what the official total is. Fortunately for us, we live on a high hill and didn't have any flooding. All the rivers around us have flooded though, sending many people out of their homes. I hope and pray that the IN/IL farmgirls were able to keep their homes dry during these past 3 days. As bad as the constant rain was, at least we didn't have any strong winds to add to the mess.
