Hi Mavens, just a quick chat here. Well, I did it, I joined the Seed Savers Exchange and the Flower and Herb Exchange. I'm so excited, I can't wait for my catalogs!!!!! Hi Ruth, Dawn, Corinne,& Rene'. Hopefully we will all have our catalogs by the time we start our new book............. Well, I have to go, I have got to get my papers ready to hand out at the chamber meeting tomarrow for the BBB presentation and decide what I'm going to wear. I might wear my June Cleaver outfit, complete with pearls. It always throws them, especially when they've seen me in my dig up the sprinkler system outfit from the cemetery,LOL!

Good evening, mavens! At least it's almost evening here on the east coast.
Dawnzo, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, MY SPECIAL HEN FRIEND - a day in advance. Since my computer time has been extremely limited I wanted to get that in now in case there's no posting time tomorrow.
I miss you all so much. I've been checking in, reading the chatting but it's been a quick thing and not much time to post. I honestly can't remember much of what I've read at this point so it will be interesting to go through it all again for the newsletter. Right now I'm just looking forward to getting back home and settling in for the winter.
It's been an enjoyable visit. We went to old town Bluffton yesterday and to the beach today. We didn't stay long - it was cloudy and breezy but I got some great pictures. Dawn, I'm still wishing I could've made the birthday bonfire but I'll be with you in spirit and you'll have Lora (and others?) there in person so I know you're in good hands.
If you don't here from me earlier, I'll be posting again by the weekend. I love you all.
God bless - Karen ~ Chickherder & Farmgirl Sister #311 |

Hi all, Just checking in. In the middle of getting dinner ready. Just wanted to see what everyone is up to. This was one of my days off and I did manage to get a bit of stuff done for the holidays. Ran errands today. A visit to the chiropractor and the dentist. Unfortunately he likes me so well I have to go back the beginning of December to get some work done. Bleck! Hope everyone of you is having a good evening. Corinne, thanks for the beautiful email. My children thought it was awesome and so did I. I'll check in again later.

Congrats Marcy Jo. I can only hope we are as blessed. Lliam is smart, but his mouth gets in the way sometimes. (don't know where he gets that - hee hee)
Spent the entire day in Indiapolis today at HQ trying to get my old work computer fixed. She finally gave up and sent me over to the garage to have them install a new computer mount. While I was busy with that, she was getting my new computer ready. I wasn't scheduled for one until December 4. It's nice to actually have equipment that works!! Suppposedly I am on the list for a new car this winter as well. I am hoping, but not holding my breath because I know how this department works. The first car I had was robin egg blue. I called it SeaWorld Security. I blew the engine at 168,000 miles. The second car was also a hand me down that had been wrecked and redone. It has more rattles than a den full of rattle snakes. It is approaching 164,000 miles. Did you know that you can blow a spark plug clean out of an engine block? I didn't know you could until I did. Hmmmm. that was loud. I had to drive it about 6 miles to the post from where it happened. All the way there it was Pop Pop Pop BANG, Pop Pop Pop BANG. I didn't know if I was in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or riding a tractor in disguise!! And the stares I got - my goodness. You'd would've thought no one had ever seen a squad car that didn't run well!! I still laugh about it.
I think my little dog knows something is going on. I have been getting things ready (packing) and he just sits and stares at me. It's like he saying " I know you are leaving and you are not taking me with you. How dare you!" It's funny!!
See ya'

I've been out in the rain and wind too much and now I have a very sore throat, so I am waving hello to all of you and sending long-distance hugs.

Today is actually my birthday Rene' and no.... no special plans for today. This weekend however, Lora is driving in from Indiana and we are (hopefully) going to have a bonfire and some hot chili. I say hopefully because it's supposed to be windy. I just hope the wind is blowing in another direction! Plus its rainy today..... but the bonfire pile is now about 7 feet tall and about 20 feet around....(talk about a bunch of pyro's!) so it'll be dry in the middle...
Thank you for all the birthday wishes. You all mean so much to me. I usually spend my birthday reflecting. So I will try to do some writing today. Jerry is bringing me home a pumkin pie blizzard from Dairy Queen.... that's my treat!
As the holidays draw near I find myself very "homesick". That's the only way I can describe it. I simply cannot wait for BBB to come around so I can meet the bulk of you. As for the others.... I am going to play the lottery. If I win, I am buying everyone plane tickets so that we can all have a week together somewhere. If I'm lyin' I'm dyin'..... ha! You should all tell me your lucky numbers and we'll see what happnens.... wouldn't that be a hoot!
Lora! ONE MORE DAY! I swear we are like two giddy kids. My dogs/hubby wont know what to do with us. hee hee.... and give Lliam some time.... he IS smart, but he also has some challenges. He will excell in his own way.
Okay girls, I am off to read my 28 emails... geesh!

A very Happy Birthday to You-Dawn.
A big Hello to everyone else! Today I am walking around the house with disenfectant and washing every door knob and light switch in this house. The "cold" has traveled through everyone in this house and made it's way back to me again, this is rediculous!!! We are not doing this all winter.
I must iron today, have been putting it off all week. I really think that is my least favorite chore.
Teresa- I joined Seed Savers about a month ago, only the main one. I have been thinking about going back and joining the herb one too. We are planning to expand the herbal part of the garden this year. Can't wait!!!
I will check back later-everyone enjoy your day.

Dawn I know you and Lora will have fun! Maybe next time I can be there too!! But I have some celebrating with one of my favorite 9 year olds and will spend the weekend with him!! He keeps telling me what I can get him for his double digit birthday! I remember doing that when I was his age..now I just want some quiet time all to myself. Funny how our wants change over time!!

Happy Birthday Dawn! I have presents for you - heee heee heee
Alee, I work for the Indiana State Police as a Motor Carrier Inspector. I pull over commercial trucks and inspect them for equipment violations like load securement, brakes, lights etc and driver violations such as expired or suspended license, medical compliance (like a sports physical signed by a doctor) log books, fatigue etc. I write tickets when I think they are necessary, but mostly I write warnings. However, the Major wants more tickets from everybody. So now for about every 3 warnings I write I issue 1 ticket.
I don't know about the laws in everyone else's states, but please - if you see an emergency vehicle on the side of the road with a violator - MOVE OVER or slow down. It's law here and people still don't do that!! Remember - that could be me out there!! Thanks!

Hi Lora-
Wow! You have a very important job! I know it is the law in Idaho to slow down at least 20 miles per hour and move over. I always slow way down and move over. I really respect law enforcement and I have seen videos of officers being hit by oncoming traffic. It's terrifying. Luckily the officer survived!

You can read it it the Banyard Buddies forum called The Bee's Knees... I had a fab morning and wish I could take Lora there!! I'm on a bee kick now!

Lora: This morning I wondered to Jerry how Lora is going to deal with "being in John Deere He**" He was confused at first and then he was like "SHE'S the one coming to visit? I didn't know it was HER... She's gotta sleep in the barn! NO Farmall Chicks allowed!" I just giggled and reminded him that my favorite color is red..... how funny! Dont worry though.... all of our friends are RED FRIENDS! We are the only greenies in the bunch!
