Oh Duh: Teresa.... if you want to trade... I will trade and ship you a basket. If you want to buy one.... we can do that too. I will email you my list. I did this before when I first joined MJ's, and I kinda got in a pickle with another farmgirl. I will ONLY do this for the Mavens at this point. If you are interested in what I have left... please email me.

Good morning, mavens! I've been lurking but haven't posted til now. Trying not to get sucked into the vortex. I've spent most of the week muttering "I can't believe we're taking another trip so soon after the last one" and not getting much of anything done. So now I'm a semi-whirlwind around the house.
I got something important in my mailbox today that I wanted to share. American Farmland Trust will have a chance to present their recommendations on food and farm policy to the new administration in the next 3 months. They're asking us to vote on the top 8 issues they've identified. Please go to www.farmland.org to vote. Just click on "Join the Transition Team: Vote for your farm and food policy priorities in the next administration" box. There is also a place to add your concerns. Here is a great opportunity to make our voices heard.

Good behavior time comes after Christmas:) First there is Thanksgiving, then I have a huge cheese sale/event, then Christmas - holidays in retail/grocery, good times.... I am trying to keep up with y'all by reading posts, I am sensing that I am not the only busy one though, I think the holidays are starting to grab hold of the mavens Amy Grace

Good morning/evening Mavens. Yes, we are busy aren't we? That's okay, though. I have seen the passion here about our seeds that no amount of busyiness will erase. Yes, we have our holidays to prepare for and we will take care of that. But, if I know this group, come January we are going to be plotting and planning our garden stratiegies like warriors on a mission. The calm before the storm, if you will. ;^) Which is pretty frightening if you think about it being the calm when we are sooooo busy! LOL Dawn if we were to trade for the baskets, what would you like to trade? It's official...ta da.....I am done with the cemetery for the season!!!! Today I'm cleaning my back porch, front porch, and dining room. I also have to knock off the high spots in the bathroom and kitchen, and bake some chocolate zucchini bread. I think I'll make a pizza for date night with the hubby and call it a day. Here's a website that will make your holidays easier: http://flylady.net/pages/holidaycruising1.asp Have a great day dears.

Hey TS~ what WILL you do with all your free time now that you aren’t tending the cemetery :)...???
Things have been wild here... IN a good way, but never the less wild. I am not so sure as I would have it any other way as I love to be busy doing stuff I love doing.
The maven Curriculum is on my list for this weekend... Sorry girls, just, well, you know! BUSY!
I hope you are all making plans to attend the Farm Fair in July~ I wish I could share every detail, but some just has to be a surprise.........But what fun we will be having....and I want you all to be a part of it.. I will be posting more in the next week or so... so be watching!
One of my farmgirls here in Prosser has secured a "plot" for us to have a "community garden" this fall... We are so thrilled. I can’t wait for Terra to jump in on the forum; you will ALL love her as much as I do... I call her the "perfect" little sister for me............
My #2 son is coming home on the 20th and I cannot wait (he is in the Coast Guard) and stationed in New London CT... I can’t wait to get my arms around him...
OK that's it from my world... Oh hey, for those who have sent me emails and such concerning my near accident...? THANKS... I am back to my old self (good or bad)...and on the road again.... Your kindness while I had the shakes really got me through so thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I have had more fun sharing about the mavens lately... In my wanderings and meeting people, such an awesome group thanks for being YOU.

HI guys! peeking in! raining day here in "the heart of it all" Ohio. Yes, I agree that the holidays are creeping up on us all. I am in clean and bake mode as well. We got a side of beef, 15 broilers, a turkey and 2 hams in the freezer (oh, venison too). I just feel better knowing I have a stocked freezer. TS: Chocolate Zuchinni Bread? Sounds heavenly! I am doing some specialty baking for the holidays and would like to try that.....I am also looking for a chocolate pecan pie recipe. Doesnt THAT sound healthy??? TS: Also, my bskt list is nowhere to be found. I will compile another and email to you next week. Do you knit? Crochet? I am looking for 2 things: a bowl cozy so i dont burn my fingers on hot soup bowls. And some crocheted wash cloths (for body not dishes) Remember that we have 3 weeks until Maven Christmas! Have a great weekend girls! OH! I made a hot cocoa mix using the chillover powder vs. pudding mix.... YUM! I promise to share it!

HA! The holidays are racing towards me like a herd of hungry goats! I am trying to go over a ground plan to get my mess of a house cleaned up for guests and figure out who can eat what and all that, plus do my regular chores. As winter comes on it becomes more and more time consuming to take care of all the animals and other things on a farm... I miss chatting with all of you! I am having some flare ups of my regular long term health problems too, so lots of time at the doctors.
But all that said I am doing ok this morning. A bit of a zombie from staying up late and getting up early. I hope everyone is having and will be having a wonderful weekend!
Hugs to my sisters

Hello! Ladies,
I have been so busy since we came back that I haven't been able to post or check in here. I miss all of you. I have been trying to get alot of things done for some swaps that I am in and we are having company for Thanksgiving so I am trying to get that all figured out because my house is small. I have been crocheting some washclothes that I want to give away as Christmas gifts with hopefully some nice soaps. We are busy trying to get back into the school routine. Disney was so much fun. I posted pictures on my farmgirl blog if you would like to see them. It was just a wonderful time. I have picked what I want to order from the SSE catalog and I am finishing AVM. So many things I want to share and I don't know when I will have a chance. I hope you are all doing well and having a great time. Miss you, Ruth

Hey, mavens, I'm still around. Too much trip stuff going on and not enough posting for this maven.
TS, I see you're doing your Zone 1 cleaning. This flybaby is proud of you. And please post the chocolate zucchini bread recipe in the henhouse when you have a minute.
Rene, I bit the dangling carrot and unless something earthshattering comes up, I'll be at the BB&B. So happy you'll hugging that son of yours soon.
Dawn, I'm pleasantly surprised to hear from you as I thought you were hitting the road yesterday afternoon. Were the plans cancelled or are you leaving (leafing - that's for TS) today?
Annika, so sorry to hear that you've had health flare ups. I've been waiting for an Annika flare up here. I'm getting rant-deprived.
Ruth, girlfriend, so good to see a post from you! You have been missed, my maven friend.
Holiday shtuff is not something I'm concerning myself with until we get back. It keeps forcing its way into my mind and I've been shoving it back down as I have enough on my plate at the moment. I know when I come back I'll feel like I'm behind the but that's how it goes. If I start to gripe about it you can just point me back here.
You all have inspired me to utilize my library card for this trip. I checked out The Poisonwood Bible by our friend Barbara Kingsolver. It's on tape so I can listen to it in the car. I browsed the gardening section and just about screamed out loud when I saw...............How to Grow Vegetables and Fruits by the Organic Method by J.I. RODALE. Yes, an original J.I. book from 1961!!! When I checked out the lady said, "This old book needs retaping." I told her that it was precious. We then talked about BK (she had read TPB) so I told her about AVM. They had it in the library. I'm going to talk to her some more when I go to renew the J.I. book and check out one on composting by..........J.I. RODALE. I am floating on cloud nine knowing that the library has two J.I. originals.
Okay, gotta get packin'. Will check in later as time allows.
I so miss you all. Major withdrawal symptoms going on here.
God bless - Karen ~ Chickherder & Farmgirl Sister #311 |

Have a great trip Karen and Dawn. Yea, I'm trying to get back into the flybaby thing so I don't have to be stressed during the holidays with all the company I'll have.

I just have to be there. I dont know if my family will understand... but I HAVE to be there..... I have to save $40/week. I'm not even making that much right now.... I will do my best! I am going to try and get my tickets when its a little closer to the date. I dont make travel plans often, so i dont know if i'm getting ripped off or not....

Hey, I usually am a homebody so I don't know either. I can pick you up at the airport and like I said you are welcome to stay with me, that will help with expenses.

Rene dangled a carrot about the BB&B on another forum to get people interested in attending. I just meant that I took the bait as in I'm planning on being there. No ticket yet, that's still on hold. However I had another idea. I'm going to check into train fare too. If the prices are close, I'm thinking of going by train so I can see the land I'm traveling over. Just a thought........
TS, is there a train station near you?
