I have frozen tomatos in the past and they work out great. This year I had to can them because the garden was bigger and needed the space in the freezer for other things, like green beans because we don't like them canned.

got my seed savers exchange catalog in the other day..and got myself a copy of Rodale's Illustrated Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening..then the latest issue of Organic Gardening magazine came in the mail with directions on building a 3 part compost bin
so I've got a lot of reading to do.:0)

Okay, had to open another window so I can check out the BBB link whilst posting here. And I'm re-reading chapter 5 right now in AVM. (DH wasn't reading it so I had a little window of time to catch up!)

Heehee, yeah, I have a pet rooster until I can get some hens for him. The other hens were sold out from under me, so I'm hen-less at the moment. We were mentioned, the Mavens were???? *swoons* oh cool!

Tina, isn't the Rodale's book great? I was at a used bookstore a few weeks ago and found a book by Robert Rodale called "Sane Living in a Mad World" (or something like that). It was written in the '70s and is still very on target for today.

Okay, since Sister Rene' is the coordinator for BBB, I think she may have had something to do with the wording.
karen: We NEED to get tickets together while gas prices are down. Maybe I'll call you and plot our trip tomorrow. I just HAVE to go. Jerry is not happy about it at all!! OH WELL!

hubby bought me some spices and a bunch of tomatoes to make salsa..I figure I'll get about 4 jars of salsa once it is cooked down. but he went to a western boot store and they had a spice blend that makes enough spice to add to 2 gallons of salsa.but I'll only make about 4 jars from the tomatoes he got.
thanks Dawn..Paul thought of the caption...ha. you'd have to know Paul..he's like that.we were at Borders book store and we saw this cannabible and cannibis growing guide and I was like "oh my goodness honey..look you can grow maijuana" and he's like "hush Tina" and then a couple of young guys come by and the one points out the cannabible to another and says here it is and my hubby says "yeah and if you buy the deluxe edition there are even seeds in the back"..and the guy was like really? and I'm over there bursting out laughing the guy said I'd have nearly believed you except your wife gave it away. LOL that's my Paul..always good for a laugh.
yes Karen the Rodale book is awesome can't wait to curl up with it and read away.
also want to read the book "The last American Man"
no it's the 2008 seed saver catalog that I have.
but I expect that now I'm on the list I should get the 2009.
has anyone got the 2009 issue yet?
