I would love to come to Ohio - it's not that far away. If anyone comes up with ideas for a tshirt or bumper sticker, let me know. My husbands best friend is in the graphics business. They can get/make anything we come up with. (shirts, hats, stickers, banners, poster, brochures, etc.) dumb question - what's BBB? another dumb one - I am Sister # 358 and would like to join a henhouse but can't seem to get logged in. What in the world and I doing wrong?
News Flash - - Dateline Washington D.C. Mary Jane's Hens and Chicks and some Roosters too March on Washington Chanting "SAVE OUR SEEDS"
Oh I can see it now......

OMGosh.. Why do we have to post our ages? Is it to prove we aren't genetically Modified????? (LOL) I am 45 and 100% heirloom :) (and antique)
Hey Annika~ what did "we" decide about posting our personal goals? Did we decide to have a place on the "bio" area of the hen house? OR???
And Dawn and Karen~ Did I read somewhere about having a MAVENS "Mission Statement"?, (way cool~ who is doing that?)..
And Tina ~ I thought we already voted and "grandsistered" you "little sisters" in. by saying that we felt it was more important that EVERYONE be in the conversation and everyone catch up with the "sisterhood" as they can or as we find scholarships for them.........Is that correct? I think you have already proved you have the "chops" to be here, not that anyone has ANYTHING to prove.......but just saying "holy Cow" girl, I cannot imagine you NOT being here. ( and can I jsut say, it you haven't been to her stliving.net website.. you may want to "start" your Maven adventure there.
I shared with Karen in an email that I didn’t have any idea this topic would take the way it did... I am so amazed by the amount of knowledge, desire to learn, willingness to teach, and openness to be available to one another this group has. MaryJane has a little thing she says that goes something like, "things are always better when it's "grown" organically". And in this statement she isn't referring to plants, but rather ideas and friendships and relationships. This thread has been a testament of that statement.. It hasn’t been contrived or thought out, it was me posting out of frustration and it growing "Organically", by one watering, and another cultivating and another pulling weeds, a little sunshine and some rain... and almost 30 pages later..... Look at what "we" are producing~

Lora you have to get your red hex first, it takes a few days for Sunny to get it all in. I think you have to belong to a particular henhouse to get in, but I'm not sure. We'll have our own henhouse here shortly. Dawn didn't you say you wanted to be healthy 50 more years and that would make you 102? 50 from 102 is 52 right? You bad,;) Don't worry Amy Grace and Dawn, y'all will hit your stride when you hit 50! 40 you start hearing the rumbling of your soul and by 50, you feel like you can take on the world,LOL Oh I can't come in May- Big cemetery day- Memorial/Decoration Day to get ready for. I also do color guard the entire holiday for my Veterans. I have Veterans clear back to the Civil War, The Spanish American War, WWI, WW2, Korea, & Nam, no Gulf or Iraq, thank God. I'm partial to my Veterans and I have to make sure they are taken care of.

Hey Lora, No dumb question~ 1) BBB stands for our farmfair called Buggie, barter and Boogie ~ Taking place in Coeur d alene Id July 3-5th 2009
2) as far as the signing in to the hen house. Sometimes it takes a little while for Sunny to get your name added to the henhouse roster.. So if you think that maybe it has been long enough email her of call the farm and she will tell you wants up! her email is sunny@maryjanesfarm.com

OMG - I can see I need to go to bed. I can't type. 37 in 1 month from today. Waiting on uniform to dry so I can go to bed. (yea I know - shouldn't be using the dryer but my supervisor doesn't like when I come to work with light colored lint on my dark blue uni!!.) I honestly don't know why it bothers him so much, after all, I crawl under trucks all day. Guess he likes the grease better. Men.
Has anyone watched Legally Blonde Two? If not, you should. That could be us![;D] Good family video. Reese Witherspoon is great.

Hi ladies!
Tina- That would be great if your husband would do the 50 bumper stickers! Who is going to design them? I think that is just awesome! You are such a gem!
Well I bought a plant like for my plants this winter. I have lavender sprouts from some lavender I got several years ago from a lady at the farmers market. I have no idea what variety it is or whether it is organic or heirloom or just conventional lavender. I will be planting it outdoors this next spring to fill in the gaps around our ugly fence. I figure since it is going to stay here at the rental house it will be okay and in the mean time it will give lots of food for bees and butterflies!
Dawn- You are our encourager, our organizer, our motivator and our friend!
I don't think I will be able to do more than one trip next year, and I had to say it, but the BBB wins. I would love to come to Ohio, but perhaps we could space out or meets a bit more?

I know what you mean about the plants Alee. We're in a rental too, out of town, but still a rental. We hope to be on our homestead in two years. In the meantime I have a plot of earth I'm "storing" all the plants I want to take with me. I'm trying to figure out how to take starts of the really old lilacs that are here. I can't decide if I want to pot them(then I worry about them freezing in the winter)or just plant them and hope they make a transplant. I'm kinda leaning toward potting them and keeping them on the back porch in the winter. Ditto everything you had to say about corporate Organic Amy Grace. It's so annoying isn't it? Oh, Dawn, yes, I understand that the braclet is twelve dolla. Well, I suppose I should go take a bath and go to bed. I'm going to try to stay away from here tomarrow. This thread is becoming so addictive it's scary!

ok help me out here: I know we are called the MJ's Heirloom Mavens. So...what shall we have the bumper stickers say ..maybe something like: "Preserving Our Future One Seed At A Time" Does that sound good? Let me know and I'll have him get on it right away.

WOO HOO! That is awesome Tina!
Perhaps when we get the Henhouse, so the topic won't get lost in the amazingly wonderfully active conversation, we can have a "Ideas for the Bumper Sticker" thread!
Is there already a paypal account set up for the Mavens? If not here is what we need: An email account just for the paypal account so it isn't getting mixed up with personal things. I can create email accounts off my website so if you all don't mind, I could create something like "Mavens@awarmheart.com" Then I think we can just get the paypal account. I don't think it has to be linked with a bank account, but I might be wrong about that. If we do, I can set up a savings account through Wells Fargo (Solid bank). My husband works there so we wouldn't get any account fees and because he works there, we wouldn't need a minimum balance.

o.k. new post "Heirloom Maven's Bumper Sticker Ideas" has been posted up under the Farmgirl Chapter Chatter heading. Check it out and let me know your ideas. We'll donate 50 bumper stickers to the cause. oh..and who to send the completed bumper stickers to? just as a suggestion..maybe whoever is in charge of the chapter fund can maybe sell the bumper stickers for like $3 each to help raise funds towards the chapter fund.(just a suggestion)

Oh you DID ask for it....Marshmallow popcorn balls at Christmas! so chewy and bad bad bad! I think I'd better just give them up, I'm already pear shaped But I'll probably sneak one once in a while...I'm not sure how to make them in a healthy way.

Girls, girls, girls! I signed on cuz I forgot to post a special goodnight to Dawn and my husband found me ROFL - literally! (No, just kidding, but almost!) I wish I could have seen the look on Dawn's face when she read that she was 52! RS, it's so worth you getting us mixed up just for that image. I'm the one that's 52, Dawn really is 37 - ree-wy she is, I'm se-wee-us.
Lora has us on the news already and Rene, you are a riot, girl - and so smart. That's exactly why we're telling our ages - no g.e. farmgirls here!
I skimmed through the messages and since I'm not supposed to be on the computer right now as I've already signed off for the weekend, I'll save my comments for Monday morning.
Dawn, sweetie, I've had so much fun at your expense. Thank you! You know I love you - MUAH! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and get plenty of rest when you get back home. I think you'll need it and we will be here waiting - with baited breath - that smells like bugs - from scratching in the henyard - is there such a thing as a henyard - going to bed now - love to all - ...................
God bless - Karen Farmgirl Sista #311 |
