Hi dear Mavens, just a couple of things:

1. As soon as I hear back from Lynn Coulter I will fill you in. I'm hoping she will accept our offer to chat at Tina's chat room next Monday. Like I said, as soon as I know I will post it here.

2. I am going to try and stay off the computer more. I just am not getting anything done and as much as I love y'all, I have got to wean myself from this thing, real time life calls, or should I say, demands my attention, lol.

TS: you go on with your life. No one can be here 24/7.... well they can... but you know what I mean!

for those of you talking about AZ and snakes, scorps and all that..... forget it. I'm orginally from WV, but I will NEVER live there again. Why? One word. Snakes. I have nightmares about them. And to live in a place that hosts bugs bigger than my hand~I'd have to be institutionalized.

Ohio is fairly safe. No rattlers, or copperheads. Just garden variety that still send me high stepping to the house!

Dawn - yes it was me with the Botanical Interests seeds - I have (from last year's non-starting garden season):
Cascadia Snap peas
Progress #9 Shelling Peas
Early Wonder Beets
Bright Lights Swiss Chard
Red Giant Mustard
Correnta Spinach
Pencil Pod Bush Beans
Big Max Pumpkins
Royal Burgundy Bush Beans
Lacinato Kale
Bok Choy
Copenhagen Market Cabbage
Bodacious Sweet Corn
Kentucky Wonder Pole Beans
Detroit Dark Red Beets
Luscious Sweet Corn
Easter Egg Radish Blend

Hmm, I'm thinking I won't need to order much.....
Didn't realize I had been so efficient when it came to ordering seeds last year only to choke at the plate when it came to actually planting them.
I know I will have extras of the greens and beets. the first year I gardened I planted so many greens all at the same time, just silly. There was no way one family could eat that much salad, fortunately for them the deer found it and started snacking, I wasn't so happy about it;)
I know I will be ordering at least a couple things - lettuce, carrots, Outhouse Hollyhocks, tomatoes.......the list goes on

Whazzup, mavens?

Lillian, I would like a few of your Vermont cranberry seeds since you have some to spare. I wanted to order some but it just didn’t fit on our list. Maybe this is why, huh?

TS, guess I’ll have to finish Lynn’s book this weekend. I’m about halfway through it and skimmed the rest but was hoping to review one more time before the chat and write down my questions for her. Another thing to add to the list.

Speaking of “The List,” night before last I was talking to DH about how it seems like I never get anything done. So I wrote down everything I could think of that I’m responsible for and ended up with three and half pages. That’s just areas of responsibility – not anything that would go on a To Do list. So I’m doing some prioritizing also. You may (or may not) have noticed I haven’t posted as much over the last couple of weeks due to the “real time life” thing. So I too will not be posting as much (although I’m sure there will be some spurts of mega posting from time to time) and will be spending a little more time in the henhouse sharing bits of info from books and mags I’ve been reading.

Amy, your experience with (not) planting the seeds last year is one that I have most years with flower starts that I buy. Until last year! Robbie had the garden worked up for me and our starts had been sitting under the tree almost two nights. He came home one night and I said, “I want to show you something.” It took him a few minutes. He kept saying, “Something looks different. What is it?” Finally I got, “YOU PLANTED YOUR FLOWERS!” So I have 100% faith that you will have a gorgeous garden this year.

To everyone who is having a cold/wet/dreary/cloudy/etc. day, my condolences. It is in the 50s and sunny here, heading for 60 degrees by the afternoon. After that it’s downhill again culminating with the possibility of snow and sleet on Tuesday. So I am taking advantage of it and going out to measure the garden plots as soon as this is posted. Which would be………..right………………NOW!

Hey, I'm back, er, still here. I realized I should eat something before I went outside so while I was eating I posted my list of seeds in the henhouse for whoever is interested.

Cheryl, I too just placed another seed order with BakerCreek... I spent quite a bit of time on their website and looking through their photo gallery, I feel that I just want to go visit them. Looks like such a great place.

Amy~ I need to make a trip over. There is a meeting I should attend in Colfax and I need to take some things to the farm and I NEED to visit with the towns for farm fair... NOW I just need to find the time. Are you all going to have a day where you meet up at the Co-op? I would so come for that.

I am so itching to get out in the garden... I am busy plotting and planning..

Super exciting on the welcome wagon thread!

Rene' is there something I can help you with in regards to chickens? Annika hit the webite dead on. yay mouse!

I wont be here much today. Its just me and my boss holding the phone system down as the rest of the clan is either off or pregnant....

FYI: I just got the final OK to go to BBB from hubby. He said this means to much to me to not be able to go. Plus, I've not had a vacation in years. I'm due. Look out Wash/Idaho gals, here I come! More like.... poor Teresa Sue!
