Well, I missed our Monday night chat. Fell and sprained/fractured my wrist so typing is slow. Where are you all doing the live chat on Mondays now?
Is everyone ready for Christmas day?
I'm working today and tomorrow. But I get off early Christmas eve.
Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. Want to send my wishes now in case I don't have a chance to get on again till after the holiday.

Oh, Denise, so sorry to hear about your fractured wrist. How are you feeling? Are you in much pain?

Yep, we did the live chat and it was really fun! I love that even with slow speed internet, I can keep up.

I'm almost ready for Christmas Day. Much more ready than in years past. Just can't believe it's here already but I say that every year!

You have a wonderful Christmas too. Hope it's your best ever in spite of the wrist.

And all of you other mavens, how are you doing this Christmas Eve Eve?

God bless -

Hello mavens!!

I came on last night and the monitor died, completely. Not even a flicker. I had just gotten to the thread and poof. Right now, hubby hooked it up with an old screen we had. Hard on the eyes and terrible but better than nothing. I probably won't be on much until we can get the other monitor. This thing is going to make me blind.

Denise~Sorry to hear about your fractured wrist. You're still working while injured. They can't give you a couple days off?

It looks like you ladies had a fun time at the chat. So sorry I missed it.:(
If I can't come back I want to wish all my maven sister a very Merry Christmas!!!:)

HI Ruth and Denise!

It was a lot of fun last night, both of you (and all the rest) were in our hearts and thoughts.
Denise: I'm so sorry to hear about your wrist. What a bummer..... speedy recovery and Merry Christmas!
Ruthie Pie: I know what it's like to not be "connected" especially with the Mavens.... We will wait patiently for your moniter to stop being pesky!

Everyone last night: I had a great time, even tho the topics were mainly about fertilizer and smileys.... its fun to giggle and cackle like tha when you are supposed to be "grown up". Thats good friendship right there!!

I dont know how long I will be on today.... I need some down time... I want to read. Speaking of reading, what are we supposed to be reading next? I'm not paying very good attention..... hee hee....

HAppy Christmas Eve Eve......!

Hello Train...... Mornin' Sam........ Lora, this message is from Jerry: he told me to call you..........Meadow Muffin!!!!

Good Morning Mavens! Denise sorry to hear about your wrist, I hope you heal quickly!

My men are HOME!!!! Yea!!! THomas looks great. They got home about 1:00 a.m. and by 1:20 the house was full of Thomas' old high school buddies all home for the holidays as well.... I went to bed finally around 2:00 ( as I am getting way to old and dont bounce back after long/short nights, like I use to....When I got up this morning at 6:30 they were all still in the family room talking away..............Lordy! So I think it will be MaryJane's griddle cakes for breakfast.

Chatting last night was wild, if you missed it.. well it is so worth checking in on Monday nights..........email Dawn or Tina if you arent sure what to do.

Well off to get the boys fed, I will check in later...

Hi Girls. Just wanted to check in real quick. I missed Maven time last night, we had been without power for about 36 hours. Came on late last night so we have a lot of catching up to do today as far as chores and cookie baking goes. We are fairing the storm just fine. A foot of snow on the ground and still snowing. Gotta run everyone take care.

'Mornin', Ralph! Tell Jerr he wins the prize. Meadow muffin is a classic. And the next book club selection is "Gardening with Heirloom Seeds" by Lynn Coulter.

RENE'! Yippe!!! Now you can relax and settle in with your guys. That's you really need for Christmas anyways.

R: BTW, what college is it that you're getting your degree from? And where did you put your purpose board post? I've been searching and searching but haven't been able to find it.

Lillian, what a bummer to be without electricity right before Christmas. Although I guess it's better than being without it ON Christmas. Will be keeping you close at heart today and thinking of you while I'm baking "alongside."

God bless -

Hi Mavens,
Denise so sorry to hear about your accident, heal quickly!
Ruth, the moniter is mailed and on it's way, Judy, our postmistress said with this weather it might take a week, so hang on, it's on it's way. Oh, you'll find some fabric in there too, I was afraid the bubble wrap wasn't enough for the edges so I wrapped it. If you like the fabric, keep it, if not pass it on. I washed it, cause I always wash my new fabric to get all the formeldhyde out of it, and I hadn't ironed it yet, sorry it's wrinkley, if you want it crisp like from the store, just spray starch it and iron it. Oh, and the Palouse dust on the moniter is a bonus too! LOL!
Rene' I am soooo glad your menfolk are home safe and sound. You go take a nap girl, if you can take your eyes off that son of yours, lol.
Thankyou Karen and Lora and Rene' and Dawn for the great cards and gifties I rec'c today. They are wonderful, I won't tell just in case everyone hasn't got theirs yet. Thank you, thank you.
Hi to all my other dear Maven Sisters *waving*, love you all!

hey gals..
yes chatting last night was a hoot.
and a good bit wild...but we did get a few moments where our see-wee-us faces shown through a little and we talked about health/nutrition/and tried to help Dawn figure out what type of display to get for her farm market booth, and then Rene' told us about her online nutrition classes she has been taking, and Lora told us about a new job offer she is considering.
So..it wasn't all just fun and games..we did put on our serious faces long enough to learn a litttle bit about each other.:0)
--------------
oh gals..I was up all night long with my wee 4 yr old..she caught a cold/fever from somewhere..first my mom had the sniffles/sneezes when she came here..then my son caught it, then my wee one caught it, and I was up all night with her whining and tossing and turning..it starts out with a sore throat, then the sore throat starts clearing up, then it goes to fever for about a day/day and a half..then to more sneezing, then a light cough.
ugggh.
anyhow...she finally fell into a settled sleep at 7 o clock this morning..and I finally was able to doze off some too.
--------------
Hope everyone is doing good today though.
hugs to you all.
-----------
I'll have to look to see if I have the new book club book choice..I think I do..but not sure...I'll have to bring it out from one of the packed bins..which one..oh boy..I marked them but we;ll see where in the big stack it is in my garage of items I've already packed in anticipation of moving..ha.
--------------------
Have a great day gals!

Hi gang:

Yeppers. Last night was a much needed night. Its good for all of us to be silly and not have to be "grown up". We do enough of that on our own time! Yes, I DO act grown up when I'm expected! I dont just haul off, lift my leg and rip one everywhere I go!!! (Thats a joke, stay tuned for next maven chat to figure it out!)

Lora: I mailed out your momma's goodies and forgot the coin purse! OMG! I do not know where my head is at today..... yours will go out after the holiday.
Thank you.

I would like pics of everyone..... so I can scrap them. I want to make myself a FRIEND scrap book next.

When are we starting the new book? I already joined another read with Frannie (cabincreek) but I know that I can read both.

Okay, I'm off to turn in some badge work... have a good one!

Hey, Dawnzo, is Frannie back on the connection????? **smiling with anticipation** And the new book won't be a drain on your time. It's not story-like. I don't have mine in front of me but I remember that a lot of the page was lines for notes and each page contained info about a particular type of seed. Or something like that but it will be an easy read.

God bless -

The reciepe calls for 1 1/2 pounds of beef tenderloin, but I use whatever I have, round steak , etc. Also the meat will be easier to slice if it is partially frozen about 1 1/2 hours ahead.

BEEF STROGANOFF

1 1/2 pounds of steak
butter
1 large onion, minced
1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoons pepper
beef broth or leftover red wine
1 tablespoon all purpose flour
1 cup of sour cream
egg noodles or rice

about 45 min before serving:
On cutting board, trim fat from steak, cut meat across the grain into 1/2 inch slices. Cut each slice into 2" by 1/2" strips. Dry strips with towel.

In a ten inch skillet over high heat, in one tablespoon hot butter (be careful not to burn butter) cook half of meat, stirring constanltly, until lightly browned, about one minute, meat will be rare. Pour meat and drippings into med bowl, set aside, add more butter to pan and cook remaining meat, pour into bowl and set aside.

To skillet, add two tablespoons more butter, onion, mushrooms, mustard, salt and pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until vegetables are tender, about five minutes

into measuring cup, drain dripping from meat, add beef broth to make 1/2 cup, stir flour into skillet mixture until blended. Gradually stir liquid into skillet mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until thinkene.

Stir sour cream inot mixture until smooth, add meat and heat, stirring,do not boil, serve over noodles or rice.

* Dawn these are the general instructions from my old cook book. If I have any red wine leftover, I will deglaze my pan with it after I have sauteed the vegetables and use it instead of beef broth. I prefer it over egg noodles.
Hope this is what you are looking for.
