Thank you for all your sweet thoughts and words.

Rene~So sorry to hear about your son and hubby being stuck in this bad weather.

Teresa Sue~Whenever you can. This one is still hanging in there.

Well, hubby's car won't start. He doesn't know whats wrong with it. We had $700 worth of work done on it in September to get it ready for winter but it has been worse since. Very irritating.

I hope to make it to the chat tonight. I don't know if this baby will work for me. If not just know that I am thinking of you and will be with you in spirit.

All the northwestern girls be careful. It is supposed to be even worse there with this crazy weather. Are they predicting any relief?

We are expecting temps into the 40's and 50's this week but it is also bringing alot of rain. I'm not sure what will happen with all the snow we already have.

I posted some pictures on my blog. There are some of the snow at the bottom of the post. I also added some things we've been working on here, and some of our decorations. I hope you can come and visit.

Hi Mavens! I hope everyone gets home safely and stays warm!! It has been so cold here that I am just chilled to the bone!! The floors in my house are cold only because we have a dirt cellar for a basement! I am thrilled to check on the animals in the morning just to see if they made it through the night!! Tomorrow it should get up into the 20's!! Whoo HOO! Break out the bathing suits!!! hehehe!

I would love to post with you tonight but know that I am thinking of you all!!

Dawn--I have some aprons for your shop if thats ok?

Karen-Thanks for the card!!

I still have some sleep pants to make for my nieces---and some baking to finish!! Probably just in time for the big day!!

Took DH shopping this morning!! That was fun!! We have been together 3yrs and he is just now getting the kids presents!! I usually do all the gifting but somewhere amongst all his scroogeness he must have decided he needed to do something!! He got the boys rockets to build (I think theres some fun in it for him) my DD wanted a zippo lighter and little dd wants anything crafty!! He's also getting the oldest a gift cert for an oil change!! It was fun to watch him!!

DD got her first paycheck and I took her shopping--same fun for me watching them shop for everyone!!

Have a great day ladies!!!!! I will be back later!

Just an update on my boys. Lucas (coast guard - is stuck in New London over the holidays), Thomas ( Marine) got out of Yuma to Portland, Or. and is stuck in Portland.... My Hubby who headed over yesterday to get Thomas in Portland ( normally a 3 hour trip) is still trying to make his way to Portland after being stuck in Stevenson Wa. over night, highway 14 (washington) is still closed, and I-84 ( Oregon) is closed. Currently hubby is out on SR 34 heading up Mt. Hood and back down into Sandy, Or. with hopes of getting into Portland the back way.. He has been out of phone range for 2 hours now.. and my fingernails are chewed down to the nubbies. ( Tom use to be a seach and rescue ranger with Ski Patrol, so he knows his way around snow and mountains, but you just never know.....If he isnt into Portland and back out (with Thomas) within a 4 hour window then they will be stuck in the other storm that is about to hit.. SO Christmas could be, them in Portland and US here...........but as long as we are all safe, I guess that is what counts.

On the up note. Matthew ( my youngest) is having a blast in the snow.. he has been out sledding since about 9:00 this AM; with about every kid in the area............Cole~ My 17 has taken advantage of the "GREAT weather" and done some goose hunting.. Seems we will have the historical "christmas goose".

Good afternoon, mavens! I finally have a chance to play catch up. It seemed like things were going so well this year as far as staying ahead of the game Christmas-wise. It seemed too good to be true and it was. That’s why you haven’t heard much from here. I’m really looking forward to the slow days of January and settling in with some good garden books. I haven’t received my Baker’s Creek catalog. I’m pretty sure I requested one but I guess I should double check since y’all are getting yours.

First, Brenda, I received your package and I’m saving it for Christmas Day. It’s been years since I’ve had a present that was a total surprise to open in the morning. Thank you so much – I’m sure I’m going to love whatever you sent.

Next, Dawn, the Bakers Creek display and farmgirl products in your market sounds fabu (as TS would say). I went to the Bakers Creek website to check out the displays and they look wonderful. And they’re Amish-designed – it’s so you!!! Better get that triangle for your buggy! And a WOO HOO for being done with all your Christmas goodies.

Lora, I have some hedgeapple seeds for you. I forgot to put them in your Christmas card so they’ll be coming your way next week (after the holiday rush is over!).

Denise, enjoy your upcoming time off! You deserve it.

Ruth, I’m so sorry to hear about the potential layoffs at your hubby’s work. I guess the “bright” side of them announcing it before Christmas is to keep people from racking up a huge credit card bill and then not having the money to pay it off. I have you on my prayer list. If you end up moving to Indiana you’ll only be about 4 hours away from me! Fishers is close to Indianapolis, right? You’d be the closest maven to my house!

Hi, TS! At least your children are safe, even though they aren’t safely with you this Christmas. The weather has really thrown a wrench in things this year, hasn’t it?

Amy Grace, we’re doing the car-sharing thing here too. Not exactly the same but in bad weather my hubby needs to use my front-wheel-drive car as he has a rear-wheel-drive truck. And when bad weather is predicted we default to him using my car too and I’m “stuck” at home. Tomorrow we’re supposed to get a rain-sleet-freezing rain-snow combo sometime early in the day changing to rain in the afternoon so he’ll be taking the car. We’re hoping it starts after he gets to work and the rain melts it all before the trip home.

Rene, have hubby and son made it any closer to home today?

Annika, my sista! Wish I could be there to help you and your hubby. I don’t know how much help I’d actually be but I could give lots of moral support. Just settle in and take care of yourselves. How are you doing on food? Were you able to get stocked up over the weekend?

Corinne, your Christmas Day sounds like it’s going to be truly enjoyable. How farmgirl of you to open your home to those without family nearby.

Alee, Tina, Lillian, and Marcy, how are things in your neck of the woods?

Yesterday we had the same Arctic blast that Dawn did. They said the record low was set in 1989 and we missed it by just a few degrees. I didn’t take Gus outside to do his duty. I let him go out and I stood inside with the door closed and the leash hooked on the door latch!

Well, it’s taken me most of the day to get this post together. I’ve been re-reading the DOE and working around the house. Guess I’d better submit this before chat time tonight, huh?

Later, my lovely mavens…………

God bless -

Oh, Rene, I wish things were going better for you and your guys. There are still two more days before Christmas Day. I'll be sending up lots of prayers that you'll all be together on that day. And it doesn't happen, at least you'll each have a family member to spend the day with. Until then, thinking positive thoughts for you all.

God bless -

thanks!

The apron is exactly like the pic in the mag.... the fabric I mean.... I am really gonna buckle down and sew it well. It came with a vintage-ish tag signed by THE QUEEn herself! I am her humble servant forever...... (bowing not-so-gracefully!)
