Sorry guys I need to bring this up because I'm so angry....... I'm Alaskan, please don't be caught up with the cute, mother of five thing.

She changed the mind of voters here this week and undermined our clean water initiative in Bristol Bay. A huge open pit mine at the headwaters of Bristol Bay will be possible now.

She doesn't believe in global warming.

She believes in hunting wolves from helicopters.

The people that are close to her are not impressed here.

Please don't be caught up with the cute hairdo and all that comes with it, the great mother stories........

That's all I have to say. People that vote the republican ticket are being pandered to by the choice of this woman.

I know we're all much smarter than this.

Hopefully the moderators will treat this thread the same way the one was treated with people saying they liked her.

Honestly, my take on politics is this-- ALL of the candidates have skeletons in their closets -- some MORE and UGLIER than others. No matter WHO we choose as voters to "run" our country, we are going to be disappointed once they are in office. The politicians always paint such a rosey picture of themselves, (and sling the mud at their opponents), then the REAL truth comes out once they get their foot in the door. But the thing is, if we, as AMERICANS will stand up for our rights and start taking back the power that we have "allowed" the government to take from us, then maybe things will start to change for the better. As for who I'M voting for? Well, I think Andy Griffith would make a GREAT president! (so would Bugs Bunny for that matter!) LOL...! But that's just MY take on things.

Here is MJ's policy on this stuff.. We all have different opinions & all candidates have bad/good qualities..but us farmgals just need to get along.

Jo, thank you so much for starting this thread. McCain's choice of Palin is clearly a move of desperation, pandering to female voters (who the Republicans clearly don't give much credit to for intelligence).

Funny you should mention the "cute, mother of five" thing, seeing as her 17-year old daughter is pregnant: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/01/palin.daughter/index.html

The fact that she's dragged her daughter into the national (and international) spotlight says loads to me about her character and about her as a mother.

And let's not forget, of course, the fact that due to McCain's iffy health status (his cancer has a 90% recurrence rate), I shudder to think what would happen if, god forbid, he gets elected, dies, and leaves Palin to be the one to step up to deal with, let's see...Iraq, Afganistan, Russia, Pakistan/Israel...shall I go on?
