Hay went down yesterday, and I will finish cutting the rest today. Will hopefully start baling today. So that is how we will be spending out holiday weekend. Our seedings are old, so there won't be a whole lot of small squares to make, 4 loads ,maybe. But it will be excellant for Summer, Eve, Jack and Jill this winter. Hopefully the 36 year old baler will work well!

Good luck on baling your hay. I'll keep my fingers crossed that your baler holds up for it! It's so hot & dry here, not sure how we'll be spending our holiday. We don't have a farm, so baling hay will be out!

Farming knows no holidays!!! You might get a "holiday" during rainy weather--but those days are usually spent doing catch-up jobs in the shop on different pieces of machinery. Good luck with the old baler--although they are built a lot stouter than the newer models.

So Michele, did you get the baler to work for you? Have you finished cutting & baling? Hope things worked out so you could get finished quickly!

Tuesday morning here now. Yup the baler worked fine. So the haying is done. Good thing I have tuesdays off from work. I can take a little time today. Well sort of. I have ripe grapes, tomaotes, and who knows what else. We do need to start reseeding fields. But it is a major job. As we have tons of rocks, and I don't have as many helpers as I used to. My kids are growing up and moving out. Need at least a rock rake, that would help alot. But anyways it is nice to be done. Next job will be to get equipment washed down and greased. And now Summer and Eve will have enough second crop.
