For lack of a better place to put this info: I was reading one of my cooking magazines in the tip section. Someone said they rub fall kinds of spices: ie: tai chi, allspice, cloves, etc inside their cut/cleaned out pumpkin. When the candle burns it puts off a nice scent.

Ooh, that's a really good idea, I think I'm going to try that this year. I can never get enough of those lovely spice aromas during the fall/winter. Probably smells a lot better than scented candles, which can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. |

I love the spice scents associated with autumn. I never heard of rubbing the inside of a pumpkin with them. It sounds like a great idea, I'll give it a try. Thanks for telling us about it!

Now if they could only come up with a Fall Leaves scent...sigh....I do miss that fresh, crisp smell.

I got a draft of what I consider one of the scents of fall the other day when I walked into our local Dollar General. It was intense cinnamon and I knew the cinnamon brooms had to be somewhere nearby and surely enough there they were, one aisle over towards the front of the store. Now my husband can't take that intense of a smell and sometimes has to leave a store with strong scents. It sometimes gets to me a bit but it brings back memories of fall from when I was very young. Spice scents reminds me of fall and the upcoming holiday times. Also they had their trick or treat candy out and I had to buy some peanut butter kisses in the black and orange paper. Mmmm, I love those.
Browning corn fields and hay fields have an intoxicating fall aroma to me as well. I love the scents and sights of autumn and always have.

My favorite Fall scent - the smell of burning leaves! It just conjures up so many childhood memories. Wonder if you could get a fragrance in that? Wonder what a soap would smell like made with burning leaves scent? Probably yucky!
My other favorites scents - cinnamon, orange & clove, cranberry, pumpkin spice

that sounds delicious! my mom-in-law did something i'd never thought of when we were staying with her over the fall.... she put a pot of water on top of the wood stove after building a fire (you could do it on a cooking stove too, but if you have a wood stove you wouldn't have to worry about leaving "the stove on".) after the water got boiling, she just stuck a couple cinnamon sticks in the boiling water and it smelled delicious! i wonder if you could thow other spices in too. or make a spice bag with cheescloth or somehting and throw it in. kind of like a potpourri tea! |

Went to AC Moore and couldn't help but check out the wax melts for Fall. I picked one up called Autumn Walk and it smells soooo good! Of course I bought the pumpkin spice and the vanilla cinnamon too! :)

I'd think you could Elizabeth. Can't see why not? For those of you who love cinammon adding some to your coffee grounds when you brew a pot makes the house smell sooooo good and your coffee taste fantastic too. I also add a little nutmeg and vanilla flavoring...yummmm!

ooh, i've tried that too! it's wonderful! adding a little spice to your coffee really spices things up and gives you a little something different for your plain old boring coffee

I have done the pan of water on the stove with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, orange peels, whatever is handy. It smells so good and is cheaper than a jar candle!! I've read a tip for homesellers to do this just before a showing, it gives such a homey smell. |

I agree Susan. I just got some @ 3 for $2. They have so many scents to choose from now. It always smells so good when you walk in there this time of year!

I just bought myself a pumpkin pie-smelling candle from Michael's today. I love the scents of autumn so much!
