My girls are back in school now, so I don't have anyone to "bum" around with. I may get a much needed haircut and head over to the resale shop to see if they have any new goodies.

After taking the kids to school it's off to work. I was supposed to do my wet work and mom was gonna help clean a couple of empty apts yesterday, but the manager forgot the carpet people were coming. So I went with pushing the sweeper. So today I'm back at yesterday's plan.
I have to put a call into my attorney and hope he isn't busy. Some gals are supposed to stop by this afternoon and pick up some leftover yardsale stuff. Then the kids are going to thier dad's for the weekend and I have to head off to Evasnville to check out a saxophone.

Still doing apples. Picked a bunch of almost ripe tomatoes yesterday so will be gathering up stuff for a batch of salsa. Raining today so won't be mowing or trimming like I had planned. OR I could sit here and visit with you'all.

kathy and i headed outta' town about 9 a.m. .. hit about a dozen shoppes .. oh my gosh! i am soooooo dissappointed in what is in most antiques shoppes .. and flea market shoppes jus' aren't worth the time and energy .. there is soooooooo much junk in them. yes .. i know there are indeed hidden treasures every now and then .. but i guess i've jus' gotten to the point in my life where i have so many treasures .. that i don't want to waste my time trudging through all the trash to find one treasure! we did find two big antique malls in shelbyville .. both had some nice primitive shoppes .. AND .. i did find my four wonderful kitchen chairs that i have been lookin' for FOREVER it seems! soooooo .. it was a very successful day of shopping for me! (i coulda' jus' gone to those two shoppes and been happy!) they are 'hickory splint seat' and kathy says they are quite olde (yet very steady!) a MUST! i got the 4 for $175. at first i passed them up .. despite the fact that they had 'wide seats' and were comfy to sit in! when we went to the next shoppe .. i started payin attention to prices .. and most individual chairs (mine are a SET of 4!) were about $50 to a hundred dollar each .. and i didn't like any of them as much as these four. Soooo .. i RAN back to the other store and got them! also found a few more pieces of grey graniteware .. a big ladle and a strainer .. and a coupla' more pieces of early 'tinware' .. i jus' love TIN! AND .. be still my heart .. i did indeed locate a firepit tripod that holds cast iron pots .. for only TWELVE BUCKS .. i have looked for one of these for a long time too! (i did get some FLEA bites in that store though!) oh .. and i bought a wonderful small cast iron pot and lid to add to my collection too!

kathy did find some 'smalls' that were quite wonderful .. a lovely olde basket, a coupla' stools, early bread boards, boxes and such! we had lots of fun .. always do when i travel with sugarbucket!

i'll post some pics of my 'great finds' sometime tomorrow!

stopped for a Papa Murphy's (or Murray's)??? or papa somebody or others PIZZA to take home .. you order what you want on it .. they make the dough .. put on the toppings and you take it home and bake it for ten to fifteen minutes. both hank and i thought it was absolutely the BEST pizza we've had in Kentucky!

then we went to a double feature at the drive-in .. they close this weekend for the season .. NOW .. to bed with me!

have a great weekend gurlfrenz!

Sooo glad you had good luck finding your kitchen chairs!!!...........this evening Dave and I redid the seats on our old oak chairs in our kitchen (we've had remodeling done on our kitchen and this was the last project!!) I found the greatest fabric that was a big remanent on the sale table at one of our Fabric Stores for >>>> 75% off!!!!! The most fun part of the project was taking off three layers of old fabric we have put on the chair seats over the last 37 years!!! Oh my gosh....so many memories from each fabric layer of what we used to like! Soooooo we decided to cut a square of each and stapled them under one of the new chair seats with the dates we had each fabric on the chairs and signed our names...............Ha! someday... maybe a hundred years from now, someone will find that interesting!!!! Anyhoooooo it was a fun little project!!

Until Later,
Audrey

oh audrey .. what a wonderful idea!

when we moved from our home in maryland .. just before we had all new wall to wall carpets installed upstairs .. i went into each room and wrote stories about each of my children who had slept in those rooms .. of the doll club and tea party gatherings .. of honey hunk and me and our lives lived in that home for about 17 years.

i also tucked one my rag dollies (with the story of me and my passion for creating them) behind a board in the wall .. i dated it .. hopefully many, many years from now when perhaps some renovation is being done there .. she will be discovered a little bit of "me" will be there again!

i love your fabric idea! isn't it wonderful to discover these little surprizes that people have left before us! xo

I cleaned and cleaned.. and chopped pounds upon pounds of hot peppers and bell peppers. note to self- get some gloves.. my hands are still burning. they were ok last night but this morning.. man.. I still have 20 lbs of jalepenos to chop so I am getting gloves today.
I am hitting the thrift stores today on the hunt for a waffle iron or 2, pasta maker, an iron, shoes for Aaron.. praying I find all I am looking for..

Blessings, Debra
