WTG Farmgirl. Those are the nasty snakes. Yes everything has a purpose but a copperhead close to the chicken coop is not the place.
We have them here too, rattlesnakes as well. I jumped over a copperhead a couple of years ago while hunting for morel mushrooms. Nothing stands in my way of my mushroom hunt, ticks , posion ivy and even those copperheads.
My only fear of getting bit is when I have to go to the bathroom out in the woods and getting bit in the backside :(. So I look for a clearing thats not to open , shake a stick in the brush to make sure the snakes scat or what other critters might be around.
Dang Dab It , you didn't get a picture of your hunt. Keep that shovel and camera close at hand for your next hunt. Boots are good to have on too. Good job

Now time for my favorite saying.... If that was me, there would've been 2 movements: a bowell movement and a physical movement! I am terrified of even garter snakes! I cant even imagine.....nope, I cant. I'd lose my religion for sure... I remember the time when we had a squirrel inthe house nd ididnt know what it was yet... I was screaming so hysertically hubby actually had to slap me! Yep! then he hugged me and told me it was only a squirrel. I am such a girl when it comes to unknown critters. Now, worms, mice, barn animals/poop/the urps and fish... I can handle!
