I have a Gooseberry Calendar and for August it's Crispy Fried Zucchini so I thought I would post the recipe.

1c. Italian-seasoned dry bread crumbs
1/2 c. grated parmesan cheese
salt and pepper to taste
2 to 4 zucchini cut into slices or stripes
2 eggs beaten
oil for frying
garnish : marinara sauce or horseradish sauce

combine crumbs, cheese, salt and pepper in a bowl; set aside. Deip zucchini into beaten egg, then into crumb mixture to coat evenly. heat oil in a skillet; fry zucchini a few at a time until tender and golden. serve with sauces for dipping. makes 6 to 8 servings.

I've been using that recipe (more or less) for years with zucchini and green tomatoes. I've never thought of a dipping sauce, though. What kind of sauce would you dip them in? Spaghetti sauce? Oh, I'll bet the good blue cheese dressing would be good. Or maybe chive dip?

I have been doing a similar thing with zucchini and yellow summer squash. Everyone gobbles them up. BUT I never thought of dipping sauces. Great idea. MB

Sounds great, I'll check farmer's market for some zucchini next time I get to town.
