Here I am again asking for prayers and positive thoughts. But first I'm going to start off with some better news, my mom will be leaving the nursing home/rehab tomorrow. She's got a long battle to go but she's a bit more mobile now. I want to thank everyone for the kind words and prayers on her behalf. She's very excited about getting to go home, it's been a month and a half since she was last there.
The past week has not been so kind to my husband and me. On Sunday we were heading for the nursing home to see mom when our van broke down. It's still in the shop and might not be fixed for several more days. I'm having to ride in to work with my husband and on Monday when we came home after work and seeing Mom we found our house had been broken in to. Our dog greeted us at the door in a pile of broken glass. They took some things of great sentimental value to us, but that's just stuff. Thank God they didn't hurt our dog. But she is still acting very timid about the whole thing. But she was so happy to see us that night. As for me I'm going between being in shock, to not thinking clearly, to sobbing. I can't sleep, well in the time since I have nodded off for an hour and a half. I just feel for lack of a better word... invaded. Home is the place you go to feel safe and secure and now, well... I just don't know.
We don't have a whole lot in the first place. The worst things that they took were my husband's cameras. He loved them, but they can be replaced. All my jewerly is gone, including our wedding rings (which were off because our fingers were swollen) and my mom's wedding ring I was keeping for her until she got out of the nursing home. I also had some jewelry from my grandmothers... all gone. More was taken but those hurt the most. But as I said, it's just items.. no one was hurt, well not physically. What I can't understand is how people can do these things to others. I'm sure when they are doing it they have no idea or feeling for how the victims will feel. I'm a person who cares for others and I love deeply. Hate is something I stay away from but right now my heart is full of anger. I'm trying to pray for the ones who victimized us but it's hard, very hard.
I know things have to get better. This past year has been a rough one. It's just too much happening at once--with Mom's illness and now this. I know with prayers, strength, and caring from others we will get through it. My husband and I are trying to not let this get us down, and I'm fighting it hard. The past few months I'm been getting more and more depressed. We all go through rough times and we need each other. Please if it's not too much remember our family in your thoughts and prayers. I love you all.

what an ordeal..but you sound so strong! sad, angry, frustrated..yes..but strong and your priorities are in the right place. you..and your family..are in my thoughts and prayers..please try to get some rest..

Thanks Diane for the prayers and kind words, I really appreciate it. I'm hoping to rest some tonight and it helps talking about this with you all. I've been a bit of a mess the past few days.

Oh Lainey, sister, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that there is some peace that comes to you and that you can feel safe again. This has been a rough year and you have every right to feel beat up and down about it. Can the sheriff or police help you with making your home safer? do you have anything like neighbourhood watch? I'm just worried about you, though it is doubtful that the crook will be back to bother you. Is there any way to trace any of the items stolen? this is just a terrible thing, on top of your van breaking down.
I'm glad that your mom is doing some better

Lainey, I just saw this, and I am sooo very sorry. I'm just glad that you weren't home, and that your precious pup is alright. It IS just stuff, but it's YOUR stuff, and it's meaningful to you, so it's right to grieve the loss. Unfortunately, in this economy, I think we'll be seeing so much more of these acts of theft...just quick money.
I'm praying for you and thinking of you and your mom!

I'm glad that your mom is doing so much better. But I'm deeply sorry that you and Fredrik have suffered such a blow. It's a violation of what should be your sanctuary and safe place.

Thanks Annika, Jonni, and Janice. I do hope that they will catch this person or persons and maybe that some of the things (like the wedding rings) can be recovered. We live in a rural area and really don't have a lot of close-by neighbors. That day the nearest neighbors were at the doctor's office. I called them as soon as I got in to check on them and to see if they had seen anything and of course they hadn't.

Lainey, I'm sure you have reported this all to the sheriff;s office, but you may also want to report the losses to all of your area pawn shops with photos and descriptions..if you have them of the items missing..and have the shops call you if these items ever turn up. Sometimes theieves try to pawn things like this and there just may be the possibility that these items may show up again.

It's true it is only stuff, but heartbreak doesn't know the difference. PTL the pup is ok and I am sure with your love and reassurance things will be ok there. Good advice about the pawn shops, you just might find your treasures. Will be praying for your Mom as she comes home and for all of you to be comforted. May the Lord return to you the peace and familiarity of home. May He put His hedge of protection around you all and may the thieves trip themselves up and get caught. Surely a hard season for you...caring thoughts your way...Debbie

Oh Elaine, I don't know what to say, how terrible. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers and as Debbie said, hope that the thieves trip themselves up and get caught. I hope some of your things will be found.
