The weather report tonight is saying Faye could hit Florida, unless it turns more north west. I am praying it doesn't come by Louisiana at all. I guess by late Saturday, Faye will be a category 1 hurricane! |

Thanks Alee and Amanda: We are checking the weather channel every two hours. We live on the coast of Louisiana. In 2005 we were hit head on by Hurricane Rita, a month after Hurricane Katrina hit. I certainly don't want to go through that again. I know it's all in God's hands, but I'm out of here if Faye decideds to visit. LOL Marly |

Heather: Your a sweetie, thanks. The weather report doesn't have the storm coming towards us at the moment. Those Hurricanes changed pretty fast. We are always prepared. Marly |

My sil and her heathens, ahem, excuse me, perfect children, live right in the gulf of Florida in Defuniak Springs. They are prepared but won't leave. I am praying for them

I have been watching the reports too as my son (Lucas) who is in the coast Guard and his buddies are aboard the USCG Cutter "EAGLE" and they leave LA today and will be heading down south - into Panama and back up the eastern Sea board back into the Academy at New London CT. Between now and the end of Sept. With the way the weather has been it could be a rocky few months of sea travel~

I hope all farm girls are safe from the recent activity of Tropical Storm Fran.
My daughter lives in the Florida panhandle --- 24 inches of rain and flooding but spared from the worst of the storm.
There were anxious moments as a parent watching the weather reports and making calls.
I grew up with tornados as part of the midwestern weather, but hurricanes / tropical storms are more frightening with my daughter so far away.
A lot of prayers went out for everyone in Fran's path.

I live in the panhandle too. Our rain gauge hold 5 inches, and we have emptied it 5 times now. Lots of closed roads, and one whole subdivision surrounded by what is now a much bigger lake than before......now I understand why our local government has a 100 year flood plain map, and encourages no one to build in those areas. Developers get mad about it, but we see now what a big flood can do. It is amazing......but we made it through. Lots of trees down, and power outages. But no big widespread devastation. Thank God.

Shirley Jean: I hope you are dry now. Did your house flood? Stay safe. I hear there is another tropical storm brewing. Marly |
