Well, I really have been trying to be better about the whole dog situation from a few months back but I have truly had enough. After walking her this morning and only leaving for 1 hours, I came home to pee and poop ALL OVER THE RUG!!! Doc says nothing is wrong, probably behavior problem. At this point, I have enough on my shoulders with everything going on with school, moving (again), Charlie, etc...I am really going to look into surrendering her. I just don't know what else to do. I feel very tied right now. There is no physically reason for her to do this in the house and she is walked daily, played, fed, etc. GRRRRRRRRR!!! I am actually really mad right now.

Hi Heather:
I was wondering where you've been. Haven't come across any of your postings lately. Of course, I've been a bit busy. I hate for you to give up on your dog. I understand how you must feel. Maybe the dog doesn't like to be alone. Whatever you decide to do is your business. Here's hoping you feel better soon. School, moving, dog- that's alot of stress. Hang in there. To let out some of that stress, I have an idea... stand up, lift your chin, and yell (really loud) Yee-Haw, I'm a cowgirl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's what I would do. I hope I at least got you to smile.

This has been my one problem for over a year now. She is VERY bullheaded and if it wasn't so dang hot here, I would leave her in the garage with water and a comfy bed. At least I could clean that up. I don't think it is a matter of being lonely. She is just a little...well..b***h sometimes...literally!!! I am SO fed up with dealing with this. I start my day at 6 in the morning and by the time I get home at night, with a wild child and all, it is almost 6 at night. To walk in on poop all over the place that now has been stinking for several hours AND then she needs a bath, I need to clean the couch, rug, etc...it is exhausting!!!! This is the only sore spot between me and hubby. I wish we had a yard, at least I could put her out there for awhile (when the weather is cooler). Between Charlie, school, still looking for a job and NOW a whole change in our plans, I am down right frustrated. I wish I could find a nice family to take her because I am truly done. Hubby doesn't get it...he is not here and when he was, he really didn't take that good of care of her. I feel like I got screwed and I am ready to move on. Excuse my french!!!
The major problem is this is hubby's dog, acquired by me by marriage yet he doesn't do ANYTHING to help out with her and I am here with her 90% of the time we have had her. I am done...I wasn't hot on getting her and I was PROMISED this wouldn't happen and since it has, I feel like it is up to me to get it fixed. Hubby keeps asking me to hang in there until he gets back. I just don't think it is fair at all. He is not here cleaning up the mess and smell on top of everything else.

I agree. Sometimes we take, and take, and take, then when we have enough--- that's it!!!!!!!!! It sounds like that's where you're at!!!!!!!!! Try to find a nice home for the puppy. I'm sure there's a family out there with children who would love to have a dog. In the mean time, if you need to vent, vent away. I'll check from time to time to see or read your venting. Heather, here's a giant hug (********************). By the way, what are you studying in school?

Sounds like a good reason to crate the dog. When I leave and will be gone all day, mine go in a crate. My crates
are large enough for them to move around in, but it surely does contain them - and for exactly that reason, so I
don't come home to messes! I crate them at night too, the little one likes to sneak down into the basement and
leave me surprises (better down there as its unfinished than up here). I also leave them in the garage and I have a
doggie door that goes outside to a covered pen so they can go out and get fresh air and do their business and that
seems to work well. I have sympathy for you when it comes to cleaning up after them. Its more understandable
when its a physical problem, but psycho problems sure can be wearing on a person. Good luck, hope you find a

Can I ask what kind of dog it is? I raise small dogs and they really can't hold things for a long time. it may just be that she is home alone to much and if that is the problem then maybe rehoming her is a good idea. If she is home alone i agree with Chris a crate is the best way. They will not go in there unless they absolutely have to because it is a small area. I am sorry this is happening cause a dog can be a great addition to a family but if you are to busy for one a new family may be the best too. Hope it all works out . Beverley

She is a Boxer. Part of the reason we have her is to protect our house. We were broken into and I am thinking if she was crated, they would have made off with a lot of things or possible hurt her. It just sucks...I don't know what to do.

Can you keep her in the garage with a big bucket of water and a fan blowing on her?? (make sure extension cord is out of her reach), but she should be OK in the heat with a fan on her directly. |

Heather - I don't have any words of wisdom, just some sympathy. My dog is almost 7 and she still pees/poops in the house if she is feeling emotionally needy, neglected, didn't get enough snuggle time.... you name it. Some dogs have such strong personalities, basset hounds being one of them, anyhow right now Annabelle is mad because we have been going and having fun without her so it's back to the paper towels.

Heather, boxers seem to be a very popular breed. I bet you won't have a problem finding a wonderful home for the dog if that is what you choose to do. It does sound like you have a full plate at the moment and simplifying your life to lighten the load might be a great choice for you. It sounds like you need the dog whisperer!

I need the dog YELLER right now!! HA!!! She is only 8 years old but lived with my hubby's ex for 2 long years, left outside in the dirt and heat of East Texas. She was awful looking when we got her and very sick, so we don't know what medical treatment she ever received or what illnesses she may have picked up, and that includes weird behaviors. Believe me, the Queen of Sheeba here has had it Real good here...she has had a few urine issues before and I think age coupled with neglect before and what not are catching up with her. I noticed the other day her hips are slowly going.

Oh boy, what a tough situation. Sounds like MAJOR behavioral problems, probably caused by her "Former" life. Dogs just don't know HOW to be grateful, DO THEY? And when it's SOMEONE ELSE'S pet..... uuuhhhgg!!! Just like spending someone Else's money, it's too easy to let someone ELSE deal with the animals!!! I go through that with my husband. He has a ROTTEN horse, 4 worthless sheep and a pain in the butt lab, but HE doesn't take care of ANY of them!!! The kids and I have to feed them and deal with them -- and he has the NERVE to complain about MY animals, which I take care of!!
Anyway, If the dog is 8yrs old already, she might never change, but the crate idea might work better than you think. I have THREE Chihuahua's and all three are crated like Chris' dogs. They go in the crate if I'm going to be gone for any length of time, and they are crated at night. I was having a SERIOUS problem with two of the dogs. One is an intact male and he pees on stuff for SPITE!! The other dog had never been outside in her ENTIRE life! She was already 7mos old when I got her, so it took a bit of work to train her that the house is NOT her potty!!! When you take your dog out to go potty, put her right back in the crate when she gets in the house. Do that each time you walk her, but make sure she goes outside AS SOON AS YOU OPEN THAT DOOR. When you're gone, put her in the crate. If she's a smart dog, she might realize that the "accidents" are what's keeping her in the crate.
My dogs have learned that if they make a mess-- in the crate they go! My one dog ALWAYS "tells" me when he's done something bad because he will slink off to his crate. That's my "cue" to go and see what he did. Sure enough! He's peed on something and already punishing himself for it! Those incidences don't happen too often anymore, and my girl is now COMPLETELY housebroken (though she does "piddle" a bit when she gets excited) but at least I know that THEY know the purpose of the crate, and RARELY do we find any more "surprises."
