Ice cream is my favorite dessert...I usually eat it once a week...I figured out I was pregnant because I started eating it every day in June :)....
I love (locally) Graeters, Ice cream. Mocha Chip and Black Raspberry Chip are my two favorites, but then there are the seasonal flavors in the Summer, like peach, and strawberry chip, and cinnamon in November. The "chips" in the chip flavors at Graeters are actually large HUNKS of bittersweet chocolate. Absolutely incredible.
I really don't buy store brand because if I keep it in the freezer, I'll eat it in one sitting...but I love Breyer's natural vanilla with the bean. It's really refreshing!!!

Anything besides homemade ice cream unless it has lots of yolks and cream in the recipe. We only had homemade ice cream when growing up so store bought ice cream or the once a month during summer Dairy Queen was a major treat. No, not the Great Depressioni --- this was the 50's and 60's.
My job was to sit on top of the ice cream churn to keep it the paddle from moving, then on to being responsible for mixing the ingredients and taking a turn at the crank when older. Everyone wanted the paddles from the churn as the ice cream there was the best. The churn (White Mountain) is long retired.
Great memories of all the cousins gathered to make ice cream but give me a pint of Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey, Blue Bunny vanilla with butterscotch topping or a local brand called Bliss that has as they say here "a wicked good" peach flavor.
Your cup of English toffee ice cream sounds heavenly.

I also forgot that a favorite restaurant locally makes their own Lavender ice cream and Lemon Verbena ice cream...such wonderful infusions in a nice vanilla base. YUM!

ahhhhhhhhhh Brooke! How could you!? I have been craving homemade ice cream all summer long. I lost the center piece to my maker so I can't make it at the moment. Right now my favorite ice cream is Blue Bell Banana Pudding.

Miss Wilma, No, I'm sorry to say it's not!.. It's a Private selection from Kroger.. Our grocery store here (I think some of you know it also as King Soopers) ....
I have been going crazy for homemade peach ice cream but we haven't made any yet.
ALL of your ice cream mentions sound WONDERFUL. I can't wait to get more herbs and make something like lemon thyme or lemon verbena ice cream.. wow!
Oh, angikay, you know it was bound to happen. lol. I am surprised there hasn't been a thread about ice cream yet???????
And Blue Bell... Haha!! You're in Texas for sure! :P My dad should put stock in Blue Bell. He eats gallons upon gallons of it (Homemade Vanilla) ... so much, it worries me! lol.

I have always loved Jamoca ice cream from Baskin Robbins. I have loved it since I first stepped foot in a store, many moons ago, I was 7. I have tried to copy if when using my Ice Cream Ball. It didnt turn out that great. I dont even have a real ice cream maker, which may be now on my bithday/christmas wish list....My absoulute fav when I am feeling liek I really need something ooey and goeey, Jamoca ice Cream sundae, 1 scoop, along with chocolate chip, as my mouth neds something to rest on, while I get ready for another bite of Jamoca. The Jamoca has to be topped with Pineapple topping, the choc chip can have Chocolate Fudge. Of course not to forget the whipped cream, nuts and cherry. No I am not pregnant! I have had this same version since I was 7. I never stray, and am always faithful to Jamoca!

Brooke: This may sound wierd, but I do not like ice cream. Never did. Give me a brownie, then I'll eat like crazy! Enjoy your ice cream. Marly |

Kim- I too love baskin robbins jamoca ice cream and/or jamoca almond fudge.
I'm a sucker for chocolate mint chip ice cream.
Oh and does anybody remember peppermint ice cream? The vanilla ice cream that had little pink and green pieces of mint candy in it? When I was little, my great aunt used to always have it just for me when I'd come to visit her.

I'm not usually a sweet eater, except some chocolate when the mood hits, and of course, ice cream! The town I work in has some really good ice cream shops that make their own and are very popular. Last week I went to one and had basil ice cream. I know it sounds weird, but it really was good...and tasted like basil (not overpowering) in a vanilla base. I've also had lavender ice cream there. I really loved that. If I buy at a store, I like Ben and Jerry's. I like the chunky monkey, the cookies and cream, and other flavors that I've tried but can't remember them right now. I'll eat the whole pint in one sitting! I put it into the microwave for 20 seconds just to soften it a bit. Now, if you were to ask me my favorite flavor on the fly, it would be vanilla. Plain ole' good vanilla is what I'll usually order.
