Hi darlin's! Just wanted to give those of you who are in the "sisterhood" the heads up, that a new henhouse chapter has been started. This virtual chapter will explore junkin' farmgirl style! We will share ideas of re-purposing old finds and get our creative juices flowing! If you heart goes pitter-patter when you see a pile of trash on the side of the road, you are one of us! From re-using old doors and windows to re-purposing kitchen utensils, we will share our ideas with one another. Hope to see some of you join me!

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

Hi Julie! We would love to have you join us. I will be rather tied up for the next couple weeks with antique sales and camping, but hope to post several ideas after that. In the meantime, I hope several of you will join us!! We can learn so much from each other and sharing our ideas only helps to build our creativity.

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

Oh....I can't wait.....this is right up my alley!!!!! And after reading your other post Brenda....I SURE WISH I lived up by you gals....sounds like you have some neat "stuff" up/out there! I'm canning and harvesting and farmer's marketing right now too so I will be patient! Keep us informed as to when the chapter is up so we can let Sunny at MJ's know and get us all "cluckin" together....what fun and maybe I'll find a real use for some of this stuff around here....wouldn't that be great!
thanks again.......

Count me in, Brenda.

I have a daily commute to work that is very peaceful for 10 of the 20 miles, all backroads. The two favorite roads, and a few side roads, have the best of freebies on certain days.

The curb set asides for pick up day has resulted in some amazing finds.

Most people would consider it junk --- but to me it's treasure.
All of it has a use for another life.

A 1930's arm chair needing a new cover, landscaper's cast offs ready for rescue, chairs that still have use, an old bicycle to hang pots of impatiens & vines from under a tree, ice skates to use with greenery on a fence in winter, etc.

Rope, duct tape, bungee cords, trash bags, gallon jugs of water and a shovel in the trunk of the car (which hubby has dubbed Sanford and Son) are ready at hand.

I felt a bit embarrassed until seeing a fellow scavenger, wearing her office suit, pulled over to dig up hostas & daylilies marked as "free : dig your own". Her car trunk was open and out came the shovel, pots, newspapers and water to rescue the plants.

The only item I passed by --- with regret --- was an old tandem stroller to hold triplets. From the looks of it, it had to be from earlier than 1960. No room in the car and definitely not room at home.

It is up and running under the henhouses. I believe, to join you need to be a member of the "sisterhood" and then you contact Sunny (sunny@maryjanesfarm.org) and ask her to sign you up to be a member of the Junkin' Farmgirls henhouse. Since this is a virtual chapter and is on-line, I feel no need to limit our numbers. Sharing ideas is so fun, so the more the merrier. Hope to see you all jump in!

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

Count me in! I love junkin'!!! Brenda, thanks so much for starting this henhouse. Thank goodness I'm in the sisterhood already or I'd be feelin' the pain. Lookin' forward to learning from y'all.

Linda, I thought I scored some finds with discarded old windows and picket fence but I've learned from you already: "Always be prepared." Startin' on my Sanford & Son gear tomorrow!

Frannie, doll! I am shocked that you aren't in the "sisterhood!" Next to MaryJane, I consider you the queen farmgirl . . . or at least a princess! I wish you would consider joining, cuz we'd love to see your trash treasures! Yes, I think you can peak, but you can't "comment" if you aren't a member. Please consider joining us! Pretty please with sugar on it . . .

Patiently waiting for you girls . . . I suppose it takes a day or two for Sunny to get things up and running too. It's just so lonely being in a henhouse all by myself!! LOL!

Well, I would sure love to join also. but waiting for a chapter here in central KY...might have to join just to be part of this henhouse...although can stand to alter anything that can be used at all as it was meant to be used.

Joy, what a great name! My aunt named her two daughters Faith and Joy - it was so-o-o-o-o Aunt Rose to do that.

Jump on in. You can be in the junkin' sisterhood AND you'll be ready to join the KY sisterhood when it gets going. And you could always start a chapter of your own. I think there's a badge for that.......? Keep us posted.

God bless -

Help ! Is anyone having problems with log on access to the Junkin' Farmgirls chapter Hen House? I sent an email to Sunny asking her to add my name to the list of virtual chapter members.

When I visit the board I see little padlocks on that chapter. It's the only one too. I emailed Sunny, but haven't heard anything. I figure she's busy.

Well, I have my first post in the "Junkin' farmgirls",,,take a peek.
Check with dear Sunny, she will process you and then email you that you are set to go.
Tell her your favorite music groups are the Beach Boys & Beatles,(it's an inside joke)...
She really is a terrific lady. And her name truly relects her personality.
