; ) Today I found an old Kenmore Electric Rotary Sewing Machine, at the church store for 1/2 off of 25.00, I got her for 12.50!!!. So it is in a BEAUTIFUL cabinet with the books ( the books on ebay 19.00) and all acsessories : needles, bobbins, bobbin cases, buttonhole attatchment. Anyway , I am wondering if anyone has any info on this machine.
Kenmore Electric Rotary Sewing Machine Model 120-49,in the cabinet, also the bottom half of the cabinet is a chair! with the seat that lifts up for storing all the parts, I love her!!!
Thank you![](icons/icon_smile_blush.gif)

Hello Amanda, Congratulations on your find. I know how you feel. Awesome feeling hey!!!! Someone put a White Rotary machine at the end off their driveway. I looked at 8 times in 4 days. Could not find a good reason to bring her home except I wanted it. I have 3 other machines. Took DH to look at her hoping he would tell me no. No luck he packed her into the van and home she can. Once home we plugged her in, purrs like a kitten. The cabinet needs some work but she will become a new bed side table for my guest room. Then she will sew my quilt for my grand babies nursery here at my house. She needs to earn her keep Looking for any info someone might have one her too. Are not old machines the best????????? ![](icons/icon_smile_cool.gif)

Congratulations! Find the model/serial number and then go to the Sears website. You can probably order one on line.Good luck! I have a Sears and it has done me good. I also have an ols White in the garage (in it's own cabinet and everything). I'm just waiting to make room in the house for her. My Sears is a portable that ggets set up at the kitchen table when the time comes.Have fun! Sharon

The nearest I could date the machine is 1952. Around that time, White was manufacturing the rotary models for Kenmore (got this information off of this site: http://www.geocities.com/claw.geo/white.html
Here is a tidbit from that site: "Like many other sewing machine manufacturers, White manufactured and labeled many sewing machines for retailers. After acquiring the Domestic Sewing Machine Company of Buffalo, New York, in 1924, White continued manufacturing the Domestic Franklin sewing machines for Sears Roebuck & Co. Domestic became a fully-owned subsidiary of White. In 1926, under the leadership of company president A.S. Rodgers, the company was reorganized as the White Sewing Machine Corporation.
From the mid-1920s through 1950s, White was the sole supplier of sewing machines to Sears Roebuck. Models sold through sears included the Minnesota, Franklin, and Kenmore. They were basic White models labeled with the Sears Company’s brand names." This number that I found might also help. "If you have a White sewing machine, call the White toll-free number at 1-800-446-2333. If you provide them with a serial number (for White Rotary machines, the serial number begins with an 'FR' and is stamped on the back right hand side of the machine bed), they should be able to provide you with an approximate date of manufacture."
I was reading on this site: http://www.ismacs.net/sears/sears.html (the International Sewing Machine Collectors Site, that Sears often changed their sewing machine manufacturers, sometimes multiple times in a year, so it might be difficult to track down a specific date/manufacturer without the serial number. The instruction book that you have is a general one for the Kenmore rotary models. They had multiple rotary series including the 120's, 117's and the 158's.
Oh, and great find! I have a 1936 White Rotary...in an old cabinet and I love it...great for heavy duty sewing.
Happy Hunting. G

Thanks Ladies, I think it is so neat to have the leg lever. I have looked and the book with it, has a "letter" from Jean Shaw Director Home Economics Laboratory. It has ALL of the attatchments as far as I can tell.I am going to read more today, my son wants to try it out. I have an old Singer too, that I love, but cant seem to get it threaded right. But it is pretty to look at,lol. Thanks again

Hey Amanda - if you ever need it worked on I have had good luck with the sewing machine repair shop up on Francis in Spokane, they have tuned up both my old Singer and my mom's. Congratulations on the thrift store score - my favorite kind, and with all the trimmings:) Amy Grace

amanda, sometimes the direction that you thread the needle makes a diffrence (outside to inside or front to back or vice versa), also make sure you have the needle in the proper direction. those are the most common threading problems. peace connie in alaska |
