Thought you all might enjoy this wonderful story http://www.boston.com/ae/food/articles/2005/10/26/the_harvest_is_over_but_theres_plenty_to_do/ in the Boston Globe about harvest time at a small family farm. Nice to see a small organic family farm doing well. I love the way this story ends:

The couple love the life here. ''People are always telling me that I work too hard," she says. ''They say that I should take some time to smell the roses. I say hell, look where I am, look what I do. I can smell the darn roses anytime I want."

Thanks Amy! And nice to know where my dollars are going when I buy Organic Valley milk and Stonyfield yogurt every week. Much better than the nameless faceles BGH wielding milk super co-ops! I wish the Varneys a long and prosperous farm life!

with a happy heart

I had a chat with Gloria Sunday morning at the conference. I could be a Glo Groupie. She gave me some good advice that helped me with some business decisions last year. Nezinscot is a beautiful place. I spent a weekend there a year ago. Gloria is one of 10 children in her family, and one of 75 grandchildren, but the only one farming. If you ever have the opportunity to visit the farm - go!

Loved this story. Did you ever read the book, "It All Began with Daisy"? It's about a family, I believe in Nova Scotia, if I remember correctly, who were raising their kids on a farm and got into yogurt making. This reminded me of that...
