ok don't laugh, I have a black shell stitch pattern afgahn that I started back in 2007 to be a gift for my DH's b-day in June 2007...hahaha!, here it is Aug 2008 and I still am working on it, but on the plus side, I have about 1/2 a skein of yarn left to do and then add the fringe....might just have it done for Christmas 2008! lol!

Not difficult at all to do. The body of the doily is quick to work up. The flowers and leaves are done separately and then crocheted to the body. The worst part was just sewing in the ends (I hate doing that and can't stand blocking), but since the doily is not that big, it's manageable.

I am finishing up a ripple-stitch afghan. I am working on the borders now. Hopefully I will finish it in a couple of days. I have at least five ripple-stitch afghans started, with football coming soon, I can sit and watch the games, and finish all the ones I've started.

Wow Lisa, that hat is fabulous! I'm just returned from a hospital horror show, but I think this afternoon I'm going to attempt a pot holder, if I manage to make something, I'll post it for a good laugh. I haven't crocheted in forever, but I love to do it. We shall see...

Karin:
The afghan looks like a ripple effect (7 rows up, 7 rows down) when held up. When I have time to figure how to put a picture I'll put one.

hi marly. I just use webshots ( www.webshots.com )to host my pics--it is free --then you cut and paste the image code and add to your post. I would love to see pics of your afghan. I love ripples. makes me think of ocean waves.

Karin, the ripple afghans are like what your granny made for the back of the couch. (at least mine did~lol) there are many free patterns online~just go to crochet pattern central and look under "afghans".
