I recently put together four generations of recipes in a vintage tag sale frame as a welcome gift for my daughter's move into her first house. The recipes are even more treasured as they are dotted with years of use. This was a hit with my daughter to see her favorite recipes in their handwriting.

Take a look through your recipe box. You probably have a keepsake in the making.

The recipes calling for a pinch or butter the size of a small egg --- add enough flour to make dough stiff --- are priceless. And of course, seeing a loved one's handwriting.

When my Mom passed. I took her recipes that were family favorites and copied them off cause some of them were in her handwritting and made a booklet for all the girls in the family so everyone still had all her favorites and now they are all the family favorites even the in-laws. So, yes that is a great idea that you even framed it. What a great idea. Beverley

You have created a wonderful family keepsake that will be treasured for generations, Beverly. My former mother-in-law passed away last August without anyone in the family knowing how to duplicate some of our favorite dishes. I kept putting off gathering recipes from both "sides of the house" and now regret not having done so. She made the best homemade lemon pie. One that would make you pucker up. The best ever.

What a lovely idea....I'll have to hunt through the family recipe boxes.

In my family the women were fairly good baker's and my grandmama was a wonderful cook, but none were recipe writers, unfortunately :(
Would LOVE to have some written down by my grandmama, but alas....

I really like that idea. Yesterday, my 16yr old daughter declared that she would be the caretaker of all things that needed to be handed down to the next generation. What a great way to display heirlooms!!!
