Dawn,
Making quilt blocks and quilting is sew much easier then you think. For the most part you are sewing a straight line. And you don't need a machine. You can quilt or make block by hand. It can be very rewarding. Give it a try! Its like chocolate, once you start you just dont want to stop!!!

But don't eat the chocolate while quilting! ha ha.

Ok Ok I am going to try and swap out our blocks on or before 10/17.
I know we are a little late. I am waiting on two packages. But life happens and that can cause delays.

I left the office at noon today. I need to finish up on a jacket I am making. I will post a photo when its done. Its another one of those sweatshirt makeover jackets.
I hope all of you have a great weekend. It is going to be beautiful here in NJ.

Here is my jacket.
It is called Diamonds on The Prairie
The pattern can be found at www.moonlightdesignquilts.com
I changed it a little. I added buttons and made the front bigger so it could be buttons. I dont feel comfortable in jackets that dont close.
These are easy to make but...they dont always fit correctly. If you like a baggy jacket, then patterns like this will suite you fine. What I plan to do next is purchase a simple blazer patten. Cut the pieces out of muslin and quilt it like they say in the sweat shirt pattern. Oh well. Another weekend almost gone.

I wish I enjoyed sewing clothes- but I freeze up and hate it when finished. I even bought a dress form to fit things correctly but it hasn't helped.
Your jacket is just adorable- very nice work!!!!!

I believe that we are our worst critic. I see beautiful jackets on some ladies at work. I go to the store and hate it on me.
That is even truer with our home sewn items. I will make things that I hate yet I think they look great on someone else.
We can point out our mistakes without looking.
Oh well, I just keep trying and maybe one day I will like what I make too.
The dress form…the problem I have with mine is that she really is not the same shape as me. Her chest is a little higher and firmer then mine. Her waist is a lot more, um, of a waist them mine. But I do love her. Although sometimes she scares the wits out of me if I don’t turn the lights on or have my glasses on.

Thank you all for the compliments

Jessica, Holy Cow! 8 babies! I had enough trouble with just one.
Congratulations! And you look so young too! I wish you and yours the best.

Block news!!!!!!
I did not receive Alees blocks this weekend. Maybe they will be at my door when I get home tonight.
Next, I had one person drop out. Thats was ok because I had made an extra set of blocks. (just in case)
Lastly, I had one person not respond to my request of when might they be done. What I will do is send you all each one unconstructed block to finish yourselves. I hope that is ok.
So, when you receive your envelopes back, you will have 12 or 13 complete blocks and one cut and ready to sew.
I say 12 or 13 just in case you sent me all 14 blocks. You should all have only sent me 13. 1 you should have kept.

One more little item....
I am very chatty this afternoon.

I am hosting a charm swap. A charm is a square of fabric. Very simply swap. No sewing involved. Check the topics under Stitching & Crafting. Charm Swap *6 1/2" blocks*
Come and join me in another swap...

well, i must have completely botched this whole thing..I think I sent 16, and kept none of my own...jeez...leave it to me tho not remember all the rules in sending this one in!!!

Thanks for checkin my blog KAthy, and thanks for the compliments on my kiddos, I think they are a pretty fun bunch to hang with.

I will be on the look out for the blocks as I feel I am in full fall mood. This weekend we froze our buns off at the soccer fields, came home to warm baths adn cozy footy pajamas, made corn bread in an iron skillet, adn a big pot of chicken noodle soup and hot apple cider. Pretty fall feeling foods to me, so bring on the blocks!
