Ladies!
I just received my new issue of Better Homes and Gardens "American Patchwork & Quilting"
On the cover is a cute pumpkin block and flying geese block quilt.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in swapping just the pumpkin block.

http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/images/img_oct-08-colg_7.jpg

The block is 10 1/2" with the seam allowances.
fabric needed:
4 each : 1 1/2 x 1 1/2" tan/cream - back ground
2 each : 2 1/2 X 4 1/2" tan/cream - back ground
1 each : 2 1/2 x 2 1/2" brown - stem
1 each : 8 1/2 X 10 1/2" orange - pumpkin

If we do this the blocks would be due October 1st! Now this will be a strict due date! NO EXCEPTIONS.

Sign ups end August 10th.

Let me know if you want to swap and I will email you my version of the directions on how to construct the block. Or you can just pick up a copy of "American Patchwork and Quilting" at your local newstand.

1-Khartquiltmade two sets and one ready to assemble set (sorry to time to complete all three sets)
2-DeepsouthMamma received 8/19
3-Pearlsnjeans received 10/2
4-smoothiejuice received 10/2
5-Beverley received 8/19
6-Celticheart received 10/6
7-Alee received 10/21
8-SheilaC received 9/27
9-electricdunce no blocks received
10-Scgwagner received 10/2
11-girlwrangler received 9/20
12-gramadinah no blockse received
13-Huckelberrywine received 9/6
14-futurefarmgirl received 10/2

Lets not forget..
When you have your blocks done, email me and I will give you my mailing address.
Now, along with the blocks, don't forget the self addressed return envelope with the same amount of postage attached as it cost to send.

Hey girl
I think I'd like to do this one. How many would we be doing?
I want to be sure I don't over commit myself.
It's a really cute block and I needed an excuse to get that magazine.

Blessings,

Kathy

I had so much fun doing the jar block swap, I'm up for another one. Even though I haven't put the jars together yet! Like Autumn, I need to know how many.

okay Kathy, I was just lookin at the block. Looks pretty similar to jar block. A rectangle for the pumpkin with corners of the background color to make the pumpkin shape, and thena strip of background/stem/background? Am I headed in the right direction here? Okay now for the leaves...do we just applique those on? I have my things gathered, now how many do we need? I think I can have these together if I am on the right track..oooh so much getting done tonight I am amazing myself. I will have to see if there is a copy at my grocery store down the way.

OK ladies I am glad to see all the responses and questions.
Is it safe for me to assume you all had a chance to look at the site? http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/images/img_oct-08-colg_7.jpg
How many to make:
One for each of us that participates (we have 8 so far)
I will add a list of names to my original posting.
The leaves..??:
I think that if you want leaves that you should make and apply them yourselves. (Unless you all agree to create your own leaf and apply to all the blocks you are swapping.)
I am trying to make this block as easy as possible. But on the other hand, if you feel comfortable enough and have the time, go right ahead and add them to your blocks before swapping.
Any more questions?
Anyone need me to email them off line?
Thank you all for joining my block swap!

Well, I did really enjoy the Jar Block Swap...that was my Jane Eyre time. I listen to audiobooks while I clean, sew, do laundry at night, now I have a book and project go hand in hand. Hmmm, what will the book be for my pumpkins????

You're right, couldn't pass this one up! The picture did me in!

Okay, I think I might understand the instructions. Are we supposed to do the quilting to make it look like a pumpkin or does that happen as the quilt is assembled?

Alee,
All the quilting is done when you construct your quilt.
The blocks will be kind of plain when you receive them.

I emailed a few of you the directions. If anyone else needs them, remember, you need to email me your email address. I can not send an attachment on the mjfg email.

I have cut out the fabric for my blocks. I hope to have them made this weekend so I can post a photo.
