Hello everyone. Just joined and a little intimidated by the computer. A lot more confortable with a pressure cooker full of greenbeans. We live on a small acreage in S E Kansas. Have lived here for 38 years. It is interesting to read the post of the young ones who are trying to accumulate land etc. We are downsizing. I have been sewing, gardening and canning for 60 years. Started in 4-H in 1948. I could go on and on but will add more as we go along. I have not been active in a online community since 1999. Was considered the old experienced one when getting ready for Y2K. Going out to cut okra now. Good to be here. Bellepeppr |

Welcome Belle - it sounds like you have a lot to share with the rest of us. I'm intimidated by computers as well, and I still don't have a digital camera, but there is lots of help here if you ask:) Amy Grace

Thanks Gracie. I have a digital camera but don't know how to post pics on chat or forums. We'll see about doing that someday soon. I'll put that on my list of things to learn to do. |

Welcome Belle, I have found that being older than most others doesn't diminish the camaraderie you will find here at MJF. Also, it sounds like we need a tutorial on how to post pics. Anyone? Kaye in Utah

Welcome Belle from the Bluegrass State of Kentucky. I have been a farm wife for 38 years and have done lots of gardening and canning myself. Please tell us more about some of your experiences.

Belle, How wonderful that you are here. I applaud you for dealing with the computer and that you have a digital lesson or two on your list. My mom is 72 and knows way more about a computer than I do. Sometimes I have to go ask her how to do things. Nope, never too late!!!!! Glad you are here. Carol Sue

Belle! Welcome!! I have to say, my husband is from Coffeyville! His folks still live there. Pat and RE Layton. Ring a bell? They owned the Columbia drug store downtown for many years until they finally sold it and retired. We also know the Barndollar family very well out there too. Lu is such a hero in my mind. I was in Coffeyville last September and was able to attend a meeting at the Brown Mansion; Lu is the president of the historical society there and it was fun listening to discussions about upcoming events and so forth. My very warmest regards to you and will look forward to reading more of your posts. You have so much of what I want to learn and know! Affectionately, Julia Hayes

Welcome, Belle! Would love to hear some of your 4-H stories. My dad was in 4-H when he was young (early 1940's), but by the time I came along, there was no more 4-H in the area. Looking forward to getting to know you.
