your mayo, ketchup, mustard, and syrup? I store all those things in the fridge after they are open but my dd went to my parents house over the summer and says they don't store any of those things in the fridge. I thought you were suppose to after they were opened? Is it just a weird quirk of mine. I ask this because when we were in the bahamas they did kept mayo out on the table too with the mustard and kethup.

ALl of those are in my fridege except the syrup. I wonder about resturants, they leave the ketchup and mustard out on the tables.. But the mayo... I get it back in the fridge as soon as I'm done. Ben's grandma keeps her syrup in the fridge and that is why my youngest got burned. She heated it up way..to..hot and it shot out onto his chest. I don't mind warm temp syrup!

I keep mayo, mustard and ketchup in the fridge, but not syrup. I can't believe that people keep mayo unrefrigerated but my Grandma used to. Isn't that a huge food poisoning risk?

I would worry about the mayo too, but the ketchup and mustard I don't worry so much about. I use ketchup that has been out all the time. Ugh- Mayo needs to be refrigerated!!

Mine are all kept in the fridge. I suppose it isn't critical with mustard..but I like it cold. I do know people who don't keep any of them in the fridge.

I keep mine in the fridge, even the syrup. I remember once during a food handler class that the instructor said that commercial mayo and catsup have enough preservitives in them that they don't have to be put in the fridge and you are more likely to get sick from cooked potatoes held at an unsafe tempature. I don't know if this instructor was right, but I prefer not to find out!

Yes, I read where commercial ketchup and mayo has tons of presevatives in them and can stay out of the fridge. I always thought that with the eggs in mayo that it should stay cold. Anyway, better safe than sorry is my motto. The ketchup and mayo has a place in the fridge.However...my sister-in-law in Maryland keeps hers out...and she's still kickin'.

I keep all of the above in the fridge. We eat "real" peanut butter. The kind that the oil comes to the top. That has to be kept in the fridge and yes it sets up and is hard to spread. Unless you eat it real fast, it will go rancid. When I was a kid, we didn't refergerate any of that stuff. Wonder how we got past childhood. |

Peanut Butter sometimes should go in the fridge if it doesn't have preservatives.. We get the organic kind and it says "refridgerate after opening" and so I do .. for a precaution ... I HAVE left it out by accident before and no one got hurt...but I still keep it in just in case....

I do keep real maple syrup in the fridge because it molds easily. I don't refrigerate my natural peanut butter but we go through it so fast that it doesn't have time to get rancid.
