I was sitting here yesterday thinking of the new baby that we will be blessed with in a wee bit. I was thinking how nice it would be to have a homemade quilt. then I got thinking....what if my farmgal pals sent me a square that I could piece together to keep my baby warm.
I would love it if you gals could send me some kind of square 3 1/2 x3 1/2i would then get my neighbour to show me how to "piece" it together.
I would gladly send you something in return for your troubles...thanks:)

Im in but you might think about a little bit bigger square once you sew in to gether you lose 1/2 inch on each side and then also the amount you would need is hugh If my math is right 500 squares. 25 squares per foot a nice size quilt would be 60 x 48 I love to do the quilt tops but always send them out to be quilted.

I will send you a square but I am with Diana, you might need to make the square size? Is it for her quilt? What about 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 and then when you sew the seams it will be a 3 block square. Let me know I would love to send you a square. What color?

I have never made a quilt before...It won't need to be too big as it is for my baby....as for colors, I was just thinking whatever color you would like to send....my neighbour made me one and it is just plain yellow, but with fabic paint she wrote "may this blanket cover you with love" how cute!!
yes, you are right maybe a bigger square would be better. thanks:)

Melanie, I would love to send you a square. I will keep an eye out for the final size. As for something in return, not for me. It would be a blessing and that's enough in return. It say in the bible " Whatsoever a man soweth, that also shall he reap. so I figure some day will be my day to need help! Congratulations!!!!

I'd be happy to send you a square or more! I've seen baby quilts where the fabrics are interesting, fun prints, kind of an "I spy" idea. Let us know when you decide on the final dimensions.

Count me in. I agree with the size of 3 1/2 X 3 1/2. Let us know what size. And, would you please not tell God that I sent you some fabric. Monica is right about reaping what you 'sew'. I don't need any more fabric. Love to the little one on his way.

Oh...I love the I spy idea. Those are so cute! I have made a "window" quilt for my son when he was little and went off to horseback riding camp. It was the size of his cot and had a different horse in every "window" with red bandanna fabric and barn siding fabrics for the logs around the windows. It was really more of a modified log cabin I guess but the same idea.

My squares are going to the Post Office today. You may need to cut them as you see fit. They are the extra squares from the quilt I am working on for my first Grand baby who is a boy. Enjoy them!!!!!

Yes , please send me your address, i would love to send some squares as soon as you decide on a size. I think 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 would be a great size for a baby quilt, they are such fun with different squares from far flung places. You will have a great time making this, and it will be good to have a creative project while you are waiting for your little sweet potato to show up....

thank you so very much for the great response. I can't wait to start piecing the squares together. Instead of dolly Parton's song, "my coat of many colours" I can sing "my quilt of many colours" to the baby!!
oh, the size I've decided on is 3 1/2 x 3 1/2.
