Can someone tell me more about them? I have heard of them, seen them, but never used them. Do they get wet, when the diaper is wet? What is the purpose? How do they stay up?
I used prefolds, and plastic pants on my 3 boys.
What are the best patterns for them?

Michele, I tried using wool soakers (found a pattern to make them from wool sweaters I got at the thrift store) and I wasn't very happy with the results. It made them less bulky then the plastic pants, but when the diaper was wet, it went right through the wool and onto whatever was beneath the baby. So, the wool itself didn't feel wet, but if the baby was on my lap, my lap sure felt wet. Same with thier bedding. Also, it seemed to chafe their little legs more so then the plastic pants. I did use lanolin and treat it before using on the babies, too, but it just didn't seem to 'soak' anything. Everything around them was soaked, though. :( Maybe a knitted version would work better? I don't know.
