I've searched the internet and there are so many sites with directions that I'm not sure where to start. There are tons of books now, too.

What have you found to be the absolute best resource for learning to make soap?

I like the miller soap site. There are several great links in this section if you do a Search (Upper right hand of page) for "Soap" " make it easy" "all dates" "all members".

Thanks! I went to millersoap (bookmarked it right away) and started reading, while checking here, too. It looks very informative.

I like simple quick recipes. My favorite is from the Ponte Verda site. Cold process, and having a stick blender works for me.

Don't make it yourself. Buy it from me. ;)

Just kidding.....miller's soap is the easiest to understand and has tons of great recipes to start you off. Try using a 'grocery store' type recipe (like coconut, olive, lard, etc.)for your first few, while you figure out how it all works, so you don't waste expensive stuff on the learning process! It's also a good idea to try making soaps in small batches with just one oil so you can see and feel how each oil acts in the soap. Then, you know what properties the oils have that you are adding. Have fun!!
