Learning my way around and overwhelmed with everything. I found one of MaryJane's books and simply fell in love. So excited in finding my way around and to begin getting involved.

I grew up on a farm but moved to the town when I got married. At times I really miss the simple life and feel that I have lost some of my survival skills.

I have read several post and feel that I have begun to know some of you. I could use any help in getting my feet wet and joining in.

Looking forward in getting to know yall

Great to see you here Kim!! When I first came to the farm, I found one of the easiest ways to get to know all the gals was by checkin out their blogs and shops. I still do. I feel like the gals here are just like my neighbors even though they may live clear across the country.

Everyone here is so nice and kind. I love looking around and getting to know everyone better through the other posts. I finally finished reading 2 of MaryJanes books and WOW. Like someone else wrote "makes you want to go out and buy a farm." I also saw the videos and MaryJane is beautiful, I would love to stay in one of her cabins in the woods. She has inspired me to slow down and enjoy what is around me.

By the way, I received my kit today and have already sewed on it. This is so exciting and just what I needed in this stage of my life. 2000 started out rough and still going, I have taken care of several sick parents and grandparents and lost them to a much better place. It is like my life has taken a quick turn and I am now the adult in our family. Enough of that, I am just glad to find a place where I can get myself back to my roots and go on.

Thanks for all the welcomes and I agree; everyone is so helpful no matter where I post. The farmgirls that have been around for a while are very quick to reply and help in understanding. I find myself spending too much time in reading post and replying that other things are not getting done around the house.

This is so exciting and good therapy. I also have been enjoying reading MaryJane’s books that I requested from the library and they bought them. Mary Jane seems like such a beautiful lady that I would love to someday meet. I love her advice of getting back to basics and save our earth for our grandchildren. Most of her advice is things that I can remember doing with my grandmother on her farm but I guess I decided to get “modern”. In my reading and posting I feel that I am getting back to my roots and enjoying the memories or growing up on the farm and using the resources that we had instead of all the convenience that I felt I needed. My grandmother raised me and since I lost her 2 years ago and I really miss her. Finding MaryJane has been a way for me to look back and remember how she was before she got so sick; she brings back good memories.

Kim, So much of what you've written I could sign my name to! My mother passed away a month after I met my husband. We were married a year later and moved in with my dad. Because of that we were all very close and when he passes away 5 years ago (we had 7 wonderful years living with him), I was fine the first month but on the one month anniversary I crashed and burned. It took me a year to "recover." My mom and dad lived with my dad's mother when they got married (I was just repeating what I'd learned!) and Grandma was my best friend when I was young. She passed away a month before I turned 10 and if I ever feel I need a good cry, I think of her.

Since jumping on the Welcome Wagon, I've found so much warmth and love here. I totally understand what you mean about "getting back to my roots and enjoying the memories or growing up on the farm and using the resources that we had instead of all the convenience that I felt I needed." I feel like I've come home. And the most amazing thing is I feel my parents and my grandma's presence with me throughout the day. I told my husband last night, "I feel closer to mom than I have in years."

You've found the right place to heal. You're in my prayers.

God bless -
Karen

P.S. Like Aimee, I start my day here - after I do my devotions. It's like sitting around the table with your sisters (I guess, I don't really have any), chatting about anything, feeling the love. As far as not getting things done, look for Alee's thread where she lists the things she's done each day. That has so inspired me. Yesterday I did the same thing and wrote everything down that I did on a list on our frig. It kept me focused and whenever I took a break, I came to the farm for a boost. I got more done yesterday than I had in...., well, I can't remember how long!
