He was just a little brown snake out there. As much as I dislike snakes, he is beneficial and we had a good relationship. He didn't suddenly scare me and I gave him a wide berth. The workers trimmed the bushes and the little guy must have been scared out. His head is mising and his little body is sitting there. At least they could have put him in the trash bin. I just can't go near the body. I had to get the maintenance crew to come get him. I am kinda sad. I feel bad he had to die a horrendous death.
That is terribly sad. I'm so sorry for the little snake. I have a ball python , who is very sweet and I don't understand why people kill out of ignorance and fear. I know that there are a lot of dangerous snakes, but people that work outside should be more educated. I am sorry Heather. Snakes can be good friends to gardens, I know he will be missed.
I think it speaks volumes of the level of compassion you have and I'm glad I'm not the only one that mourns the passing of your snake. I had snakes on the farm and never had to kill one in 20 years....most are beneficial. NOw here in AR I'm not so sure but I have only seen one and I was not scared once I discovered it wasn't poisonous and was after rats that my neighbor had flushed into my yard by mowing a field behind me. He did the trick and I haven't seen him or the rats since. I feel for you Heather and I feel bad for your friend...the little brown snake.
