I don't care for real maple syrup *gasp* and I even though I like the taste of other store bought syrup I don't like that it's full of hfc. Does anyone have any favorite homemade syrups, like fruit syrup? I'd prefer ones that don't use corn syrup. And can you substitute the sugar for honey or something like that in your recipe? Can your syrup be canned?

Thank you!

I have a maple one that uses butter and brown sugar. Also have a HM choco one to make choco milk. Let me know if you'd like it :)

We use fruit syrups a lot...fresh or frozen fruit, mashed with some sugar and water and thickened with corn starch. Or we just top our pancakes with fresh sliced peaches or strawberries. And whipped cream, if we're feeling decadent.

I always use jelly or jam that dosn't set up quite thick enough (adding more fruit will do that) and there is a recipe for maple syrup on the side of the maple extract bottle that I have made before years ago that was pretty good. I DO like real maple syrup..but I think if I didn't..that is what I would get. I hate giving my family the HFCsyrup too.

I do the same as Aunt Jenny with the less-then-perfect jellies and jams. :)

Thank you for all the ideas ladies!

I didn't think of using the jam that doesn't set up, I just did a batch of peach freezer jam with less sugar that didn't set up, that would be good with pancakes or french toast.
