ok, I am a real newbie and have tons of questions? Are the pillowcases themselves bought or homemade? If homemade What are they to be made out of? 200 count muslin or just 100% cotton?? Are they to be hand embroidered or can they be machine embroidered as well? Sorry for all the questions but I am new? Beverley

Hi Bev!

Some people handmade the pillowcases and some just buy them from the store. If you are making them by hand- you can make them with any fabric that you would like.

As far as hand or machine embroidery, I think that most that do hand embroidery would want hand embroidery back since there is a time commitment there. However, I know at least one other farmgirl asked about machine embroidery. So if you would rather do machine embroidery, let me know and I will see if she is available for the swap. Also if you are open do doing hand embroidery or machine embroidery, we could sign you up and you could work it out with your partner as to which they would prefer. I hope that helps!

Hi Monica!

I signed you up Monica! If a week goes by an no one else signs up, I'll be your swap partner.

So the rules are simple- embroider 2 pillowcases and mail them to your partner before November 30th! :D Just email your partner to exchange mailing addresses.

Also please use some form of tracking- be it UPS, Fed-Ex or the USPS Delivery Confirmation so that all swap partners know their package is on it's way!

Hi Linda!

I got you signed up! Just wanted to give you a tip- you can click on anyone's forum name to the left side of the screen and it brings up an option to send an email through the forum. I wouldn't suggest putting your email in your posts because web crawling robots "harvest" that type of information and then send you tons of spam emails.

By the way- I love your forum name! You'll have to tell us all about it!

Hi Beverley!

I got you added, emailed the other lady that mentioned machine embroidery, and if another partner doesn't decide to participate by the end of the week, I'll be your partner :D

Hi Alee,
Thanks for getting me signed and paired up. And for reminding me about the email. As for my forum name - I've been collecting and supporting the rhino for years, they need help to survive. I have about 100+ different kinds of them here in a closed bookcase - everything from tiny, tiny pewter ones to a pair of carved heads hanging on each side of my fireplace from Africa. My mom got me my first one and it's grown every since over the last 30 years. Thanks for asking. Rosie thanks you too - she was my first rhino and she's pink and purple - I just love her.

Hi Alee,

Can I get in on this too? It's been many years since I've embroidered but with the long due date I think I can get my skills up to acceptable by then!
God bless - Karen

TXfarmgal: Boy I sure hope you like prim! Because my embroidering skills show it! I dont think I've embroidered since i was 7 or 8 and my great Aunt was trying to teach me. I dont think I cared at that point. Also, I hope you dont mind all the tiny stains from pricking my fingers! Just kidding. About the stains. I did prick my fingers several times.....having fun with this! Hope you are too!

Kris!

Thank you so much for my beautiful pillowcases (and bag of sweet treats)! I absolutely adore them. I am going to post a picture of them on my blog just as soon as I get a chance.

Dutchy- We would love to have you too! Lets give it a week to match you up with someone and if not, I will partner with you. I might need a slight extension if I do partner with you as you will be my third swapper.

I want in, but I don't know if I can afford the over seas shipping. Does any one know if those flat rate envelopes work over seas? Or are they just for in the USA?

Heather- I don't think they work for overseas. I just did a quick calculation that shipping from the US to Netherlands would be roughly $9.60 for a large envelope (the kind you can get at the post office. You might be able to get away with less if you use a medium envelope. Two pillowcases should fit in a medium envelope.

Let me know if that is something you can do, Heather.

ok it looks like the flat rate envelopes will work, but I don't know what tracking is called, on the site it only gives me three options. None of them are "tracking". Would I choose confirmation?

Also is there any way I can figure out what the rules are for mailing to the netherlands, IE if I can send candy, or flowers, etc? Or if it will be thrown away cause it's from out of the country?

Hi Heather- Yes, you would pick delivery confirmation and I would call the post office for the customs details. I think that you can send pre-packaged goods, but not plant items?

Pre-packaged foods and all other things can be send to the Netherlands. But indeed, no plant-items. Flower seeds are no problem, THAT I know for sure, hehe.

Sorry, thought to answer your question straight from the horses mouth :D
