PHOTOS BELOW .. (WARNING ..NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART OR 'SIMPLIFY' KINDA' GURLZ .. MAY CAUSE YOU A THUMPIN' HEADACHE .. OR NAUSEA .. OR AT LEAST .. YOU'LL GET A GOOD GIGGLE OUTTA' IT!!)
I SENT THIS TO MY LIST OF 300 PLUS 'TRUE FRIENDS' LIST .. AND AM LOVING THEIR RESPONSES .. MOST ARE 'KINDRED SPIRITS' .. SO THEY WANNA' COME SHOPPE AT MY HOUSE!
LAWDY! LAWDY! i took 99% of the 'treasures' offa' the walls, floors, counter and cupboard tops .. (ha! there's still PLENTY .. IN the cupboards) in preparation for kathy to PAINT the walls (FLOORS are next!)
whatta' PILE of STUFF! and each piece, of course, had about SIX INCHES OF DUST on it .. it's a wonder we don't have asthma!
WELL .. i gotta' go through and clean every thing and then decide what goes back and what doesn't (HA! my attempt to simplify .. we'll see!) i was reading an article in Mary Englebreit's magazine about how she had a new house built and disposed of 9/10'ths of what she had decorated with in an attempt to down-size. Turns out .. it sent her on a shopping frenzy and she has more NOW than she did before! there is NO ROOM here for me to do that!
even though it looks like a big pile of mess (a la Sanford and Sons) .. there are some 'good'uns' in there! i guess most of it will end up at Glovers' Station someday soon. It will take me a month or more to go through it .. unless i chain myself to that room .. which i am seriously considering doing because of this hot-"HADEZ'-july we are havin' here in 'ole kaintuck.
this feels like the hottest summer i've had here yet!
well .. anyhoo .. i think i could get into Ripley's Believe it or Not .. or at least on the OPRAH show about being a 'pack rat'! (i SWEAR .. it is all soooooooooo charming .. when it is ON the walls!)
be sure to show this to your honey-man the next time he complains about "YOU HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF" .. HA! this will cure him!
for those of you who have SEEN the walls!!
THERE WAS NARY AN UNDECORATED INCH WITH SOME ANTIQUE OR TREASURE!
,,, it feels NAKED in here to me now!
EVERYWHERE else was somewhat like that one little corner with antique cast-iron hanging on it

THIS doesn't even include the mountains of vintage linens and antique clothing .
AND BE STILL MY HEART .. THIS IS NOT "ONE/one-hundredth" of what is piled in the SCHOOLHOUSE!
YEP! i see an OPRAH's episode comin' on!
i do giggle when you gurlz show your latest thrift store finds .. i did that for years .. and then it led to antiques shoppes .. and my love for STUFF!

My first reaction was, "How do you dust all that?" and immediately went into panic mode. Then I started really looking at the pictures and finding all sorts of cool things. Kind of like a primitive I Spy game! "You really do have a lot of stuff", is a huge understatement!! ;)
Oh, and I love the naked room.

So, did you find anything new in there you had forgotten about? It would take me days to take stuff down like that, 'because I'd see something I hadn't seen in awhile and go off on a different rabbit trail! :-)

I take a notion every now and then to down size my sit-around, hand-around stuff. I will clean it and box it up, only to go back and get it out a piece at a time. I'll certainly be watching at Glover's Station for some of these goodies. (I do have an empty spot or two!!!!!)

Oh Frannie....what a cool house/kitchen you have! I LOVE your stuff! How cozy and warm it must feel and welcoming! There's something comforting about what I call "organized clutter"? I wish I could have seen it before you took it all down but I will be waiting with baited breath to see it all come together again. Let the "minamalists' have their day but I'm all for surrounding myself with history, clutter and coziness! You Go Girlfriend!

I have to admit I am a bit jealous of all your "stuff" .... All that stuff would look great in my house, lol :-) but my hubby wouldn't allow me to have all that stuff unless it was in my craft room.

Oh Frannie you are a girl of my own heart. My old house was packed full of "stuff". When we moved I decided that I would down size the amount of stuff I had. Which I honestly did and the hubby was very pleased about it. Slowly over the last 4 years though I have started filling my home with more stuff again. He has started to notice and said something about it the other day when he was helping me carry up my 1930's sewing machine to the bedroom so I could put the new treadle in its place. I keep telling him I am only bringing in "usable" items. Of course I may only use it once every year or two; but a girl can count that right?!?!

THIS IS THE BACK PORCH OFF THE LOWER CABIN (WE CALL IT 'THE CREEK') .. kathy sugarbucket built this too. when we moved here .. it was just a 5 foot drop out the door to the ground below!
i'll post some pics of how i've 'decorated' it too .. (soon's i find them!) xo

unfortunately .. after i stopped 'thriftin' .. i started ANTIQUING .. and it ain't so 'thrifty' any more!
but now and then (like that dollar store 'count your blessings' .. or when i go to 'folk art market' and get new stuff wholesale .. i do get some bargains. (tryin' my hardest to let go of all the NEW though!)

we recently pulled out that tall lilac bush .. so we could see the front of the cabin. it was HUGE when i first moved here .. i whacked it to the ground .. but it shot back up again. THIS TIME .. honey-hunk took the roots out. sure wish i coulda' transplanted it somewhere though!

Wowzers Frannie! The kitchen looks a bit differet since I have seen it last (at the Gatherin')...and the Livin' Room...talk about needle in the primative "haystack". Lots of comfy treasures are great, but boy ol' boy when they "multiply", watch out. Inknow that you have TONS more in that CUTE Schoolhouse :)
