I found this forum via a search on the book, The Egg and I, and wanted to let people know about another book in somewhat the same vein which came out a few years earlier (1942 I believe). The title is We Took to the Woods by Louise D. Rich and is readily available today. It's a delight of a book, set on the other coast in the Maine woods. (I happened to have a copy of it which I wanted to loan to a friend. She then told me about The Egg and I.)
