what cha'll doin' today? we got up bright and early and went outside to enjoy the morning before it gets toooooooo HOT! we flopped down some stones to put our ... ohhhh i think they call it a chiminea ... (those are usually clay .. i got one of those and before we could ever put a fire in it .. honey man knocked it over and it broke into a ba-jillion pieces .. soooooo .. i went and got a METAL one! we've had it on our back porch for quite awhile .. and decided to finally find a little spot on the 'grounds' for it. put it beside the 'gourd garden' near the clothesline. even if its a hundred degrees tonight .. we're gonna' light a fire in it and enjoy 'marshmallows by moonlight'!

gotta' take zillions of things off the kitchen walls (and ceiling rafters) so kathy can paint the kitchen this coming week! i'll be so happy when it's all done and crisp. NEXT .. i want the floors painted .. gonna' change the colors .. the white and yellow jus' shows toooooooooo much doggy dirt! will probably go with a more 'mustard' where the white is .. and stick with 'pumpkin' in the kitchen.

(not touching the upper cabin floors .. yet!)

what are you gurlfrenz up to today?

oh .. i'm gonna' try a coupla' recipes in maryjane's OUTPOST book too!

Hey Frannie I with you. I got up before the sun to beat the heat. Gave some goat babies their first toenail trimming and tons of kisses along the way. I washed the feet on my hens and checked them from beak to vent and everyone is great. Then I went and painted another section on the front deck before breakfast. Then I popped into the house and started up the dye pots. Have some great suri alpaca to dye today. Now that the sun is up and the heat is going I am in the basement with my barefeet on the the cement floor working away at filling orders and playing at Mary Jane Site.

I will not go back outside until the sun gets lower and then I am working on socialization of one of my big billies. This winter he had a melt down and plowed me into the gates and smashed a couple of ribs and my hand - now he is sitting next to me eating pears and letting my give him a hair cut. My ribs still hurt but my heart still loves him. He is the father of this years crop of fantastic babies.

Tpnight it is the cooler packs in bed again. Stay cool ladies.

Getting ready to hang some clothes on the line, take my craft books down to the craft room, vaccuum the 1st floor, and hopefully get a chance to jump in the pool later! Hubby is gonna cook chicken on the grill tonight...yummmm :)Probably make a pasta salad to go along with it! Whew, it's HOT today too! Hopefully the coming week will be a little cooler, but I doubt it!

Today is a nice quiet day for the hubby and I. :) The in-laws came into town for my birthday, and we were out and about with them last night. They brought me my old sewing table (hoo-ray!) and took some other furniture back with them for storage this morning. Now I can go settle in with a piece of cake and do crafty things the rest of the day. :)

And it is HOT here too! We helped them load the furniture up earlier and the air was so thick you could slice it. Thank goodness for air conditioning. :)

Oooh, funny story... last night my mother and father-in-law slept on our sofas since we don't have a guest bedroom. About 2am my mother-in-law got up to go to the restroom, but lost her balance after she stood up, and fell on my father-in-law's head on the other sofa! We were jarred awake by their screams because it took her a minute to get back off of him, even with him trying to push her off as well. He's a Vietnam vet, and said that when it happened he kept thinking, "with all i've been through, death by butt is NOT the way I want to go!" :D

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

I don't know I think that might be a great way to go.. Think of the head stone and how many folks would come just to read it. You would have more traffic then Elvis.

I've been so lazy compared to all of you. A trip to the Sunday Farmer's Market started my day, with a side trip to the bead store right on the same row as the market. Then a quick trip for some iced coffee and a stop at the fabric store to use a couple of coupons. Found some great bargains for "end" of the summer....funny it doesn't FEEL like the "end"!!! But they are already getting out the back-to-school stuff and the fall/thanksgiving decor out! I'm not ready!! Just waiting on the hubby to fix a couple things on the motorcycle and then we're off for a ride! Too fun! We're having some of those fresh veggies I picked up today for dinner in a couple of salads so no cooking! Guess it's back to reality and chores for Monday.....

--I am grateful. I have enough.--

OH "t" ... your day sounds delightful. in pennsylvania i once read an amish woman's diary and it was filled with what most of us think to be the 'ordinary' .. but it was charming and so much of who she was came through her 'plain and simple' writings.

We were on our way home from Syracuse,NY. We went to a big car show called the Right Coast Nationals. We have a 1940 Olds,it is jazzed up a bit. That car show has the most beautiful cars they are all 1980 or older great cycles too. There were about 7,000 there this year. Plus they have a lot of vendors,a band, crafts all kinds of stuff. It runs from Friday through Sunday every third weekend in July. We had a really good time. We went with ours friends, they have a 1956 Chevy Belair (among others!) We belong to the National Street Rod Assocciation and they have a lot of shows all over the country. In Sept. we are going to the one in Burlington Vermont. I am really looking forward to that!

Hi Frannie, our weather was HOT and humid, then it started raining this morning and can't quite seem to stop! That is why we
were home early this afternoon instead of in the evening.

I was up early to cook breakfast for 15 college students. Said good bye to my son...oooch, even though he will be back in a few weeks. Visited with a weekend neighbor...they live here only on the weekends. then made dinner. it has been cooler today, so no complaints. My allergies however have gone bizzerk today...sniffle sniffle.

You all sound like you had great days and now mine is coming to a close. I was already for a cold supper of fruit and cheese when I heard a courting sounds of the billies. On went my pants (Yes, I work in my undies in the basement - way too much info) and ran outside. Pete had his head caught in the gate to the girls pen and Rett was bitting his butt. Unfair! So I put them back on the other side of the fence and decided since I was already dripping I would separate the little billy boys from their mom's. Two hours later and a whole bunch of leg licking (them licking me - I am not that weird) I am back in the house. I took a cold shower and scrubed every inch - who says this old gal doesn't have boys a courting? I think I will pour me a glass of wine, sit with a cold pack behind my neck and remind myself why I love what I do.... Night ladies another day will soon be here.
