i've spent a good part of the day .. emptying the walls of all treasures cuz' Kathy Sugarbucket is coming to paint tomorrow. I have not seen our bedroom, bathroom, laundry room or hallway THIS clear since the first day we moved in! (well .. there is still 'furniture' in the bedroom). Took the curtains down (and washed 'em!)

LORDY! LORDY! the 'hidden dirt' (well .. o.k.! i haven't gone looking too closely for it!) that has accumulated is amazing! (i blame it on the dawgs!)

OH MY .. i have piles and piles and piles of lovely vintage clothing .. and stacks and stacks and stacks of BOOKS! I've decided to NOT put everything back. I'm going to hand-wash all the dainties and choose some favorites for Sofia and Iszabel .. i may sell some .. gift some .. and just pack up the rest for the 'next generation'.

I "AM" going to 'attempt' to 'simplify' a TAD .. and TRY to mostly only put the more 'prim' things back. THIS will be very hard .. because those lovelies sure tug at my heartstrings!

OH .. i also found some BOXES .. sooo FARMGIRLS of the MONTH .. i'll wrap up your goodies and try to get to the postie tomorrow!

To "simplify" our lives sounds so easy. I didn't realize how much I had collected in just the last three years until a few weeks ago sitting in my kitchen. I wondered how many boxes would it take to pack all my junk errr treasures if and when I decide to move. The answer was entirley way too many. It's not just the kitchen that's overloaded. It's every room and every closet.
Somedays I think I would like to clean everything out and start over. But then I look at this or that. "One of the kids got me that or made me this. That can't possibly go..."
But someday I would love to start collecting antique furniture, vintage linens and old quilts.

melanie .. i feel exactly the same way. when our 'things' have great memories attached .. THAT is what is so hard to let go .. i did read a 'tip' one time that said TAKE A PHOTO of the article and WRITE THE STORY of it .. then let the 'article' go. OUCH!

and .. we don't have CLOSETS .. but i have a huge BUILDING that i stored tons of 'stuff' in five years ago when we moved here. i would like to reclaim the building .. o.k. .. i'll make myself yet another promise .. in the AUTUMN .. when it isn't so HOT out .. i'll start on that building! HA! (when donkeys fly!)
