Hi Ladies

I found an old travel trailer in someones yard round the block from the home I just sold. I went to leave a note to see if they were up for selling it to me cheap and the owner was outside. He actually offered it to me for FREE. He used to sell iron planter holders and shepards hooks out of it at the local flea market but hasn't done that in a while and was using it as a shed.
He claims it is road worthy (in desperate need of a powerwashing) and he is looking for the title for me by saturday. My best friend was a carpenter in the army and is gonna help me fix it up. There is nothing she can't do with a hammer.
So here is the question...it has the sportscraft logo on it but I don't know the age of it til I see the title. It looks pretty old and would need a major renovation on the interior to replace cabinets, bed etc. Do any of you own this type of travel trailer and where might I find supplies. I keep striking out when I try to google vintage sportscraft travel trailer.
I'm excited....really excited...can't wait to create my little escape...

Wow what a find! Post a picture when you can. I'm dyeing for a tear drop or streamliner. Pulled by a 49 chevy truck...baby blue or cream...to die for!

That is awesome! I would say to just wait until you have it and can do measurements. Perhaps your friend can custom build the inside! Also if you have a Habitat for Humanity store near by, you might find some supplies, or supplies that could be made to fit!

Hey Jenn,
That is SOOO cool - I love free too!! I have an oldie ('69), but it's called an Aristocrat, so I doubt it's the same kind. I haven't tried to find stock parts for mine; we're just gonna piece it together with spare parts. But after you get the title - or get the actual trailer - you may be able to pin down the exact make/model and find parts.

One thing I do recommend, if you're going to road trip with it, is to take it to a tire shop or mechanic to make sure everything's dandy with the wheels & axle. Plus, you may need to do some sealing here & there to make sure it's water tight - ours has more water rot than I wish it did - and we paid $800 for it!

And, yes, please post some pics!!

OMG!! Hey Tammy, thank you so much! I had so much fun reading all that. I am excited that it is so old since they were only made in the 50's and early 60's. I hope I can fix her up nice. Will keep you all posted...

We are insulating and paneling the tack compartment of our new horse trailer. It is just for sleeping, we cook outside. I found a cool website with a Victorian RV, converted from on old school bus. The Steampunk Workshop are the people that are showing it. They just used salvage materials, and it is so cute. I want something like that. For our trailer, I got the the pre-primered bead board paneling from Home Depot, it will be painted a soft sage green, with a cream colored ceiling. I want to give it the Late Victorian Ranch Junk Style look. You know, stuff that may have been in a homestead house out in the Wild West, the kind of stuff my MIL threw away. Our big denim quilt will be on the bed and I found material for curtains. I am excited. It isn't quite like a Cowgirl Caravan, but close.

Greetings from the morning side of the hill.
