I don't have bees (yet), and my grandmother used to make her own honey. It was a secret recipe she was sworn not to share, and she didn't share it. My aunt remembers that she used glycerine, but no one seems to remember more. Anyone out there make their own honey (without bees)? How?

We make a difference.

This doesn't have glycerin, but I found this recipe on the internet.

10 cups white sugar
1 teaspoon alum
3 cups water
2 cups fireweed blossoms
1 cup red clover blossoms
2 1/2 cups white clover blossoms
Directions
1In a large saucepan, bring water, sugar and alum to a boil and boil for 10 minutes.
2Take off heat.
3Rinse off blossoms in strainer and drain well (be sure not to leave any green parts on blossoms or honey will be wild or grassy tasting).
4Stir in blossoms and steep for 3 hours.
5Remove flowers, strain through cheesecloth if necessary.
6Reheat to a boil, then pour into jars and seal.
