I guess this might should be in the Garden Gate forum, but I will go ahead and post it here. I got a bunch of purple basil and was wondering how I could take the flowers(? which should have seeds?) and replant them in pots to make them grow? Any ideas, pointers or what I can do?

Basil roots very easily. Just take a stem cutting and keep it in water for a week or so and you will find some very healthy roots and a plant ready to pot.

And it seems to re-seed itself very freely, too, Brooke. I planted some years ago at the farm, and it still comes up here and there. Almost as prolific as Sweet Annie.

Oh, that's wonderful, girls! Before I even read this, I had put the basil in a crystal pitcher just because I thought it would keep it from drooping - maybe perk it up (it's already drooping alot.. the way I found it at the co-op .. ) and this is great to know! I knew I could count on you all to help me. Thanks so much!

I hope this doesn't sound goofy but what else can I root?
Would taking the spinach I have and rooting it work?? I was looking at them and thinking it seemed it would work. (Hope this doesn't sound silly, girls!)
