At first we thought that we would just replace all the cushions in the little trailer we got over the 4th, but I know that would be pricy. Any ideas on what to wash the cushions with so that all germs would be gone?
I was going to do this in my bathtub with detergent and vinegar - then set them out in the sun.
Any other ideas?
PS. Found great thick fabric on sale for $2.00/yard for the cushion covers. The curtain fabric wasn't such a bargain.

Vinegar is a disinfectant and a deodorizer so I would use quite a bit of that! The sun also kills germs so after washing with good soap, water and rinsing with vinegar they should be pretty clean!

Ok, I've got one done - draining in the tub. I'll set it in the sun next. Have to say - GROSS, GROSS, GROSS. I'll stick with it and see what the results are - but tempted to throw in the towel and buy new. Just trying to be a good recycler, and I'm sure it's just dirt - but GROSS!!!!!

I know what you mean. I shampooed the carpets at our new rental and did the icky dance many times! How is the trailer cushions coming?

Oh Alee, you made me giggle at the thought of an "icky dance!"
Ann, I hope you post pictures once you are finished redo-ing your "new" trailer.

I just did the one cushion to see how it would turn out. It still isn't fully dry - even though it has been soooo hot!
Any opinions on throwing the cushions in an industrial size washing machine at the laundromat?
Think the foam would hold up well?

I would recommend soaking them in the tub with Oxyclean. That stuff works great!

That's awesome that the laundry mat worked! Now you don't have to feel all icky about them anymore!
