I'm looking for a vintage looking clothespin bag to make to hold my clothespins. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Peace and blessings,

Kelli

Check out MJF book. There are a couple there. Also, if you do a search through the forums, there was some discussion about clothespin bags back in April 2006.

You can look at mine on my blog...not sure if it qualifies as vintage but it's simple and super quick to sew. Vanilla House has a pattern for laundry day or something like that with different items for the laundry room as well and I know it has a clothespin bag. I would think a rectangle with some way to hang it is about all it will take with an opening to access the clothespins. It's like making a pillowcase basically only you sew up the opening with a hole for a hanger or straps with snaps to hang on the clothesline.

Jami, I looked at your blog and clothespin holder...I really like it! Looks vintage to me.
I have been needing one that will spin around for me and this is a great idea. Now I'm going to go make one.

Hey there Kelli~

I made the one from MaryJane's Idea book and I love it. You can see a picture of it on my blog. Which reminds me I am slacking on it!

Christina, I don't see a link to your blog and I don't know what it's called but would like to see your clothespin bag.

Sorry, I forgot to add the link!
The blog is just a new work in progress. I too need to find some time to post a few of my newest things.

It's great, Christina. How does it hang? I see a wire so I'm thinking it's a wire coat-hanger with a hook? I love all the nitty gritty details, ya know.

Yes it is hung on wire hangers. You need to have two hangers because you cut them apart and rebend them so that the top one is "M" shaped with little bent in hooks at the ends. The M shape is to go over the clothes line and then the second one, which you cut smaller loops across the bottom. The only thing I did extra was to add some electrical tape over the joints where the loops are so that it would not snag or rub on my fabric. Really it was super easy and fun. You should definitly try to make one.

Thanks for sharing the link...I like that it uses the plastic hanger since that's what I seem to have most of around here. I imagine metal hangers will someday go by the wayside, don't see them much anymore. I think I got all of mine from the cleaners when I was working in an office and taking dry cleaning in all of the time.

The top sounds interesting on your bag, Christina. When mine wears out I might try that.
