Anyone have a good apple pie recipe that also has cheddar cheese in it? I've always wanted to try this.

I used to do this all the time! How come I don't make apple pie, anymore?

Slice up some apples, sprinkle some brown sugar, cinnamon, grated cheddar, and a bit of flour or cornstarch on them and mix it up. Put it in a pie shell and cover with the top pie shell. You might want to throw some walnuts in there, too. I'm sorry, I don't amounts.

Alternatively, you can just put some cheese on top of a piece of pie and heat it in the microwave. Is that cheating?

There is a recipe on the back of some shredded cheese packages for a breakfast lasagne made with apples and cheese. I wonder if I kept it....

When I was in my 1st year of college I lived in California and waited tables at a place called The Apple Farm. It's a bed and breakfast place, very southern recipes and has a country decor. Anyways ALL the desserts were apple based with the exception of 1 or 2 pies but they just served regular apple pie with the slice of cheese on top. That and the apple dumplings were the most requested.

MY family always served slices of cheese with our apple pies. (warm pie) I have not had that in ages. I thought that was a southern tradition, but have seen other regions serve the same.

I never put the cheese in the pie but slice it and put it on the warm pie. I was looking in all my new england cooks for a recipe w/ the cheese in the pie but didnt find one. I keep looking. Michele

Kristi!!! Did you go to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo?? I know the Apple Farm!! I grew up just south of SLO and went there many times. How fun! Unless it is another Apple farm I guess..that is possible. It was nice to think about the one I know anyhow.
I love sharp cheddar cheese with apple pie. I agree..we always had it with the pie after it was baked..not baked into it. The cheddar cheese crust sounds yummy though.

Cheddar cheese crust seems like it would have many possibilites beyond a cheddar-apple pie!Now I've got to find the magazine...maybe I'll see if it is on line???

My Dad always used to eat apple pie with cheddar - the sharper the better. He got me into it. I love it!! Found a neighbor with a lot of apple trees and apples all over the ground so she gave me all I wanted. Woo hoo. She said, "watch out for the wormies. We don't spray." No problemo.

Do you know what's worse than biting into an apple and finding a worm? Biting into an apple and finding half a worm. I'll go quietly now.

I grew up hearing that LOL. We never had the cheese actually baked in though, just a slice on the side. Mmmmmm........

Not Cal Poly but Cuesta. It's the same Apple Farm all right. How funny!!! That place had some pretty good food and I LOVED working there. It was so much fun.

How fun!! Cuesta is where my oldest son went. I grew up in Arroyo Grande and most of my family is still there...including oldest two sons.
Now apple pie is sounding so good!! I remember having a wonderful apple dumpling once at Apple Farm on a "girls night out" with friends probably 10years ago!

Yummy.. Apple Farm apple dumplings are soooo good. I lived in Los Osos when I first moved there then moved into SLO to be closer to school and work and plus I ended moving in with a couple of girlfriends. My aunt and uncle still live in Los Osos and love it. I know I liked it a lot, had a lot of fun. That is where I met my wonderful DH!!! He loves my Skillet Apple Pie. I make it in my cast iron skillet and the whole bottome is caramel...it's so delicious!!!

I have a question for any Missouri farmgirls...showmemom or Junebug...Is Stephenson's Apple farm Restraunt in Independence still in business? I last ate there in 1976 with a gaggle of college friends and it was outta this world good! Had a dish called Chicken baked in cream and an apple dumpling that I can still remember! I bought a little cookbook from there but I have misplaced it over the years...had all kinds of delicious apple recipes!
